Vanilla Races Expanded is a brand new series of mods to enhance Biotech features, add to the storytelling and the world-building of RimWorld, and to introduce new, cool types of xenohumans, complete with their own unique genes, behaviors, mechanics and items.Insector is our final (for now) xenotype mod. It introduces a highly requested xenotype of insectoid-human hybrids with an ability to adapt to any conditions your colony is under. Through the power of geneline evolutions, you can create castes of insectors - a low caste of jelly producers, a caste of warriors with insect wings and ripper blades, a caste of queens that focus on reproduction etc. With a simple press of a button you can switch the caste of your insectors. You customize the castes, aka genelines, by selecting positive evolutions, and then countering them with negative degrades. For every evolution there needs to be a degrade, so the more powerful genelines also come with a lot of drawbacks. This mod should tie very nicely with Vanilla Factions Expanded - Insectoids 2, which is currently in development.

Just when I think I've exhausted my rimworld plays, another great mod comes out.

This sounds super fun! I wonder if I should try it now or wait for vanilla insectoids 2!

Great addition to the VRE lineup! I didn't expect to be as interested as I am now. One question though: There doesn't seem to be a dedicated starting scenario yet. (At least, it's not mentioned in the Steam description.) Isn't this race mod crying out for one?

Are you potentially considering adding genetics related to all the new genelines from insectoids 2 when it is released? Some interesting additional genes for insectors could be: > Nachudus Chem Sacks (chem generating and / or spitting ability) > Kemia Acid Glands (acid spitting ?convert nutrition into acid?) > Xanides Mineralization (heavy armor ?eat steel to regen armor?) > Chelis Wings (we already have this gene :D )

I can't wait to use this in my upcoming deserters playthrough, once medieval and vikings is updated that is!

Excellent mod as always! c: It's an unrelated topic with this mod, but I have a question, do you know if the aspirations mod is coming out this month? I plan to start a long run when that one comes out jeje

Thank you for another cool mod. Having a lot of fun with it! Super fun experience so far! 2 things. Is there anyway to manage the insect jelly need? They seem to just want to eat that when available but not when they need it, even over lavish+ meals. I also found a bug. Babies can have genelines that allow self pregnancy to happen and once out of the pod can trigger that. However, babies can't actually give birth so it gets stuck in an infinite cycle of labor when it comes to term. Even dev tools could not end or force it to happen. I had to force age the pawn and add another pregnancy via dev. It killed the parent pawn but they gave birth to a healthy pawn. Keep up the great work!

This nod is a blast and really fun. I love the customizability. I've been playing a colony of insects that all start at 6 in a skill then I've been evolving them to suit the hive.
