Hey everyone! Just a quick Patreon update related to the upcoming RimWorld update.

RimWorld is getting a 1.7 update that changes the engine from Unity to a custom Waylith engine. The game runs a lot smoother, with performance improvements ranging from x2 to x10. Even extremely modded runs with hundreds of pawns work a lot better.

The impact on mods was minimal - but we are in the process of updating them. Please give us a few days to get everything in order. It's a lot of tedious work.

I'm also removing the little 'triangles' with game versions from all of our mods' preview images. They occupy a lot of space and I think they're a bit irrelevant.

Vanilla Expanded Framework is already updated to 1.7, so the rest should be relatively smooth and easy. Work on new releases will continue once we finish updating!

You can read more about the update HERE.

I still don’t know if 1.7 is real or a fever dream. Thanks for updating so quickly.

So this is how I find out about 1.7 coming out.. I'm glad they're optimizing the game though

Make sure to report all issues using Google form or else they’ll be ignored and unfixed!

B

What's a few days? Thinking I'll wait till Monday (?) To Ilstart filling out google bug forms for ya for items that were missed.

Oskar Potocki

You should already start because at this point we assume all mods are working fine UNLESS bug reports are filed.

B

Ahh okay. Ive identified a handful of issues with several VE mods. Will fill out a the forms later today.

Hello Oskar, thank you for the VE update! Also if I'm happy, at same time I wonder if this could mean that RW development is ending (considering the new game in work). I know you can't say nothing obviously, but I just wonder if on your side, VE team will still go ahead if this will be the case, also if hypothetically we will not get new DLC. I mean I wonder if hypothetically you have still amazing plans (after VE cultist, VE ultra tech and the others mod announced on September road map). Love you and wish the best for you guys :)

Nickolok

It feels good to love a game with such damn good devs

Nickolok

I can't wait to see what kind of stuff you come up with now that the engine can handle a bit more!

Oskar Potocki

The game hypothetically not receiving any more updates would be a sign for me that we don’t need to worry about the worst part anymore - mods updating and fixing when the major version releases. To me, Rimworld is perfect as is, and a go ahead to just keep developing without that worry would be amazing. And of course I’ll gladly mod whatever else Ludeon makes.

Alessio Riccardi

Thank you for your reply :) Some of the Vanilla Expanded mods feel like free DLCs, so what you said is really reassuring for me!

Diana

I learned about 1.7 from YouTube this morning,

Nickolok

I'm not sure if this game as a better dev team or moding community

Im so excited to see the lategame difference

Would the change in engine allow your team to do things for VE that were previously not possible or do the benefits focus on performance alone?

Oskar Potocki

The benefits are performance alone. As far as I know we were able to already do anything we set our minds to. Some things might be easier to achieve but it’s not like suddenly some things are possible that weren’t before.

Whisper

Lovely lovely. I'm assuming that since there's no big mod-breaking changes, work on the roadmap will just continue as planned for now or are we going to be waiting for 1.7 to come out before releasing the upcoming mods?

Oskar Potocki

There is some work to be done with our mods as some things broke despite ludeon saying the update didn’t break anything. Fortunately we’re working with Ludeon to get them fixed!

Time to have my cattle herd with VE ranching!!!

[AI translate] Hello! First of all, I want to thank you and the whole VE team — your mods are amazing! Secondly, I have a few questions: 1. How can I join the VE Discord channel? (Do I need a Patreon subscription for that?) 2. Will it be possible to tame monsters from Monster Hunt? 3. Are there plans for more 'Quest Expanded' mods in the future? Personally, I would love to see 'Faction Pirates Expanded' reworked into a 'Quest Expanded' format. For example, once a colony researches the basic Warcasket technology, they would start receiving quests like: 'We have detected a signal from a hellish workshop that creates armor for pirates; inside this workshop are blueprints for advanced armor and various armor modules.' Thanks again, Oskar!

Oskar Potocki

1. Only Jade tier patrons or higher receive the invitation to VE discord server. Once the discord account is linked with Patreon account, the bot will automatically add you to the VE discord server. 2. No, they will likely not be tameable. 3. We have many different ideas for more Quests Expanded mods, but Pirates being reworked into one is not something wee want to explore.
