Hey folks and welcome to a quick devblog about what I have been recently working on.

Whilst programming work is happening on Tier 3 vehicles, I've started drafting up a new Vehicles module which I already teased in the VVE infographics: Imperial vehicles.

VFE-Deserters will feature raids on aerodrone stations, attacks on shuttle depots and sneaky ambushes on maxpack convoys, but all these vehicles inevitably should also end up in the hands of the players and fully buildable vehicles if you choose to side with the Empire.

As such, I'm creating a new Vanilla Vehicles Expanded module which will feature a plethora of imperial-tech vehicles of various tiers: Tier 1, Tier 2 and maybe even Tier 3.

From Aerodrones and Maxpacks to armored minigun vans and tanks equipped with flamethrowers, I believe you will find something exciting in it.

These vehicles will require imperial techprints to unlock - so you either need to cosy up with the Empire, or purchase them via contraband system in VFE-Deserters.

I am still designing all the different vehicles, ensuring they all have consistent style and are not just generic tanks. Above you can see an armored personel carrier with a very inaccurate minigun turret.

This is an imperial maxpack - an incredibly well armored cargo hauler that excels on long distance travels. Unlike other trucks, maxpacks work very well offroad, and the amount of armor protecting the valuable cargo means that even the strongest weapons will fail to deal damage to it.

Aerodrones will also be buildable, and can be controlled without a pilot in them! You will be able to send out aerodrones on drone strikes, but also on recon missions to find out what the enemies are hiding. Once air defenses become part of the framework, aerodrones will be immune from them due to high altitude they fly at. They are, however, electric-powered, and their batteries don't last long at all!

Tier 1 shuttle is your cheapest option to transport troops and cargo over medium distance. While it's not as good as the actual imperial shuttles, these bad boys are accessed much earlier in the game and don't require a lot of resources to make. They are also capable of VTOL, which means you don't need runways!

I will see you soon with more information! Let me know what you think about these!

Amazing work as always..!

Soul4377

Tier 1 Shuttle means well get a tier 3 which i hope will be great for especially long distance travels

Luckybread

Fucking sick, looking forward to this

Carl Max

I love the Giga Chad imperial XD

Big Barza

Average empire enjoyer gigachad. Is a VFE-Empire style shuttle planned as well? Love the look of those.

EvanDownton

Hoping there will be some gilded, over the top luxury vehicles. Gotta move the nobles in comfort

Zac

That character art is pure gold, I love how so many of your mods now have a "storyteller" character like that. Maybe, for other vehicles in this module, you could experiment with a laser-based tank/armed vehicle, for shredding organic enemies?

Jonuss

Amazing! Thank you for providing such frequent updates, always a delight to see a new post

Kevin Bromley

I love these! Vehicle Framework changes the modding scene big time.

D-Train

Love the faction themed vehicles. Now I feel a need for pirate/junker themed vehicles.

Panzer

Damn all of them look great and fit with the Empire style, good job and cant wait to see all of the stuff added in the module

HeinrichK

How about a driving Thron, for when high Ranking Nobles Visit. Think Xerxes Thron in 300, but anti grav. Or a high tech parlanquin or what its called. Btw, Oscar, did u guys thought about handcart as very low rech Transport? Or maybe beast of burden powerd? Like an oxen cart or horse rikshaw?

nick bishpop

This team has got to be some of the greatest modders ever, vehicles expanded was already really cool and you’re still making it cooler

Jerry

I keep postponing my empire playthrough because you keep announcing the perfect mods for it, I've never enjoyed not playing a game this much lmao

Highly Caffeinated Gamer UK

Loving the vehicles and the idea of faction specific vehicle techprints. Looking forward to starting my next playthrough with this, Tier 3 vehicles and VFE-Deserters.

Silverskene

Love the idea - especially the aerodrones! This really adds to the scenario of the Empire seeking out the Deserters and marking them for destruction. The only question I have is this: will Empire follow Russian military doctrine (obliteration of the enemy) or Western (targeted strike)? In other words, how ruthless or concerned about public opinion is Empire?

ParaNautic

I love the transport “bus” it looks like the vault tech armored APC from the original fallout 3 idea, aka van burin.

NeverSink

These are absolutely awesome! Will enemies enemy units use these (really hoping for it) or is the player the only one employing them? Also: the aerodrone graphic is absolutely incredible!

Red Lizard

Will the Imperials use these against you in the upcoming Vanilla Deserters Expanded®

Ethan Downing

Imperial Vehicles look awesome! Are we going to see Deserter variants-armor stripped off the APC to make a faster version, or Aerodrones with bigger batteries and cargo skids strapped on to make for an anonymous delivery system for contraband as examples?

Choppytehbear

The Imperial T3 tank should be modeled after the Baneblade from 40K. You could have a whole colony manning one.

Raphael Huddy

Will these vehicles have patterns or skins that allow us to mimic the same black and red colour scheme we see on the VE imperial shuttles?

Jiří Bohaček

OK this is SUPER COOL. Cant wait for the Maxipack, to move trade goods better, and look at that APC, its more like IFV with that strong machinegun on top! A few suggestions for imperials thought: Imperial Bombard - Mobile SPG based on the Maxipack chassis, which can shoot accurate mortar shots, but needs to be deployed on site when its shooting - making it a stationary target. Alternatively, could use the swarm rocket pod instead of its artillery gun. Or some variation of the Siege Thumper, just enlarged - designed to punch holes through enemy walls and defensive structures. Imperial Hovertank/Levitank - A light vehicle, using supermodern levitation technology based on imperial starship fighters. Equipped with a charged minigun/railgun?/uranium slug turret, this vehicle would have lower armor quantity (around the same as tier 2 tank), but would be considerably faster, not slowed down by chunks, or embarsures - it would simply fly over them- (also possibility to have it go over pawns and downed pawns without running them over?) Imperial Scorcher - Medium sized, possibly tracked tank, equipped with flamethrower weapon from vanilla mechanoids expanded. Strong armor in front, but if you can evade its flaming armament, you can take it out with a few shots to its lightly armored fuel tanks! Imperial Starfighter - Using the technology from the imperial shuttle, the Imperial Starfighter is a medium-small sized aircraft, designed to operate both in space and on land. Equipped with twin charged LMGs, it is designated to punch holes through deserter fleets with ease. However, its cannons are still as strong down on the rim. (Could use similar design to SRTS Expanded The Skip) Imperial MCP (Mobile Command Post) - A maxipack chassis, equipped with various communication and detection systems, working as sort of comms console, designed to be used to coordinate troops on ground, as well as call upon needed allies (could have the added mechanic of calling down multiple airstrikes, like with the permit) Got a few more ideas up my sleeve, let me know what you think!

Carl Max

Slightly off topic but how will walkers differentiate from vehicles mechanically?Besides how they look what will be different game play wise?

ToastedToast

I've done nothing but be a royalist scumbag since royalty came out and I absolutely can not wait to start up the deserter run once it comes out. Looks awesome, keep up the good work!

Stim

I chuckled at the art for the splash screen

Pedro Siqueira

A little bit outside the imperial theme i am thinking about a Saddle that you could load a elepahnt and a buntch of tribals and have a MUMAKIL (Lord of the rings elephants) tribal vehicle. Chariots and all, you just would need to load animals into saddles, and have a stable workbentch (similar code of the garage workbentch) the fuel would be kibble etc...

Noisy Koi

I just hope the Tier 1 Shuttle takes off like the Frog for its VTOL, all messy and rockety and such

Trouperton

A bit of necromancy, but I remembered right! The new RimWorld DLC teaser literally has the T1 shuttle!
