This month's challenge was on subsurface scattering, a lighting phenomenon that creates a bright glow from within! I couldn't decide if a dark or light background works better for these studies, what do you think?

Flame members also get the full process videos, plus a resource video that talks you through my process and explains my creative choices in making these studies. It also discusses common mistakes and gives some tips! Those will be posted in a minute.

If you want to participate next month, I’ll be posting next month’s challenge on the 1st! Just like last month’s challenge, it will include:

Tips and suggestions

Reference images

Inspiration images

A list of resources to help you complete the challenge

A bonus challenge for those who want to invest more time

If you want to participate and you’re not yet a flame member, be sure to upgrade your membership before the 1st to join! For now, I hope you like these studies✨

I think the dark background really makes the highlights pop, but maybe it would glow even more with the faint glow you used on the light background? Super pretty hands!! I want to have a go at this myself.
