Here’s part 2 of the full process for BLOSSOM! At this stage, I had the colors and positioning of the image mostly worked out, and it was a question of detailing the background bit by bit. The messy, scribbly plants needed to be cleaned up. 

Notes for this video: 

• I’m working mostly on one layer, but every now and then I’ll add some details or paint a new plant on a separate layer and then merge it down once it’s detailed enough. This is especially useful if the plant has a gradient on it, because then I can lock the transparency and use the gradient tool to quickly apply that gradient. After that it gets merged on the main layer. 
• Even though a lot of the details are being added at this stage, it’s a pretty intuitive process because the overall composition and colors are already there. It’s just a question of working with what I have. You’ll see that the colors I’m using to shade and detail are mostly picked off of other areas of the canvas.
