More animal sketches! I was taking requests from my boyfriend and the first thing he said was “that weird dog with super long legs.” We figured out what the official name was - turned out it’s the maned wolf - and I drew these studies based on google photo reference images. If you’ve never seen a photo of these animals before, you gotta look it up. They are so weird!!

Woah! That’s a crazy looking animal. It’s like half deer half wolf

Ashley Cirimeli

They kind of remind me of sighthounds with those long legs!

Lovely work as always - I love these animals, they're graceful but just on the cusp of awkward. I recognize your two main reference shots Loish :) The more dynamic one is the only shot of a maned wolf that I've seen with a human for size comparison - they're much bigger than I thought they were!

They're so pretty! It'd be so cool to see a painting of one of them :0

I think the animal is so cute though. You pulled it off well!

Rob Callicotte

I like it. The style is unique and elegant.

You gotta search for videos of them walking. its so strange. they walk like hyenas, with both feet from each side at the same time. apparently it saves energy to walk a lot. nevermind, here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k28ZYWRD5c

I love them! And your drawings are beautiful 😍

So pretty and elegant!

Loish

wow that's so surreal! the strangest thing is that cute lil puppy face they have, which seems so out of sync with the elongated body.

Leila

You make them look so badass. In the photos they just look like stretchy derps 😂

overwhelmingly impress with ur line quality...can u give any suggestion or tips for strugglers to improve line quality

Loish

thanks! the main thing that's helped me improve my lines is to be mindful of line weight. i usually go over the lines again at a later point (you can see it in the process videos for the wolf sketches) and thicken them in some areas, so that there's more flow to them! also, try to emphasize the lines that convey volume, rather than just the outlines.
