Happy December everyone! I finally finished painting a piece that I started working on in March! It went through a lot of iterations and changes over time. I would revisit it every couple of months and then make some changes to the idea until it finally became what it is now. I included some process shots in this post so you can see how it evolved. It’s funny because I can see the influence of the seasons on this process. It started out much more of an early spring mood (which is when I took the reference photos that inspired it), and ended up being very autumnal in the color scheme!

This is so cool since I have done similar theme (and almost a similar character!) last month so seeing this was such a treat for me ♡ I love the trees, you made them look so magical. Amazing work as always!

Have you made a tutorial on how to paint forests?

There are many things that I like and want to learn from your work but if I have to chose a few, one is how to use a lot of dark values bordering on black without eliminating the joy of color in its all glory. Another one is ( if that is learnable at all ) the bravery you display in the way you mix colors, mixing the “happy accidents” with method and intentionality and always getting the best result. Pure magic! ❤️

Alex

It’s so beautiful! Has a very epic, eerie vibe, I love it!

Loish

I have not but that would definitely be a fun one!
