Hey patrons! I’m starting this month with the tutorial, and it is on elevating your sketch by adding color! This one was suggested to me in the discord server, and I thought it was a wonderful idea for a tutorial. This tutorial is not just about adding color to a sketch, but about doing so in a way that brings added value to the sketch while still preserving the appealing elements of the sketch itself. I hope it’ll inspire some of you to dig up some old sketches and bring them to life with a splash of color and detail!
Below is the cheat sheet for this tutorial, and you can also download the PDF for it at the bottom of the post:
Two other resources that you might find helpful alongside this one are:
Creating light & flowy sketches: This tutorial runs you through my full sketching process, so if you want to know more about how I create the sketchbook pages shown in this tutorial, the sketching tutorial is a good one to check out!
Turning scanned lines into a transparent layer: This demo shows you how I use masks and levels to create transparent lines from a scanned image.
I hope you enjoy this one! Subtitled version is coming up in a minute.
