Hey flame patrons! Here is this month’s Q&A session! This time not only with the questions displayed on the screen (thanks to my boyfriend Arjen for programming that), but also with the chat visible so you have some idea of what I'm reacting to!

Topics covered in this session are:

Painting technique

My style and AI

Tips about drawing clothing folds and heads

How I make PDF worksheets

Critiqueing one's own art

How to transition into monetizing illustration work

The state of social media for artsits

My approach to concept art vs. personal art

How to deal with people who don't take digital art seriously

My system for backing up files

Plans for future workshops & events (including playgrounds)

My feelings about my old art

Book recommendations

Trying other software besides photoshop

Necessity of art school to become an illustrator

For the next session, feel free to drop any questions you might have into the #ask-loish channel on discord, or post it below - I'll go through them and try to answer as many of them as I can during next month's Q&A session! Thanks to everyone who joined in the chat ❤

Laura

thank you for hosting this new Q&A Loish!✿ something that I'm really curious about and would like to ask for the next session is about your concept art / character design works Do your clients provide you with references of what they want or they just tell you a very general idea of what they're going for? Part of the work includes reaseaching on your own to create the concepts? Like looking for fabrics, historical costuming and facial features?

Hey Loish! This was a wonderful Q&A, thank you so much for another great session 😄 I just wanted to mention that the volume is very quiet though, I had to listen to it with my headphones and computer volume at 100%, and everything else I listen to at that volume is deafening haha. If possible for next time, I'd turn up the volume output about 60% more and that should be good 🙂

Loish

oh thanks for letting me know! I'll edit the volume next time before uploading!
