Alright, I've spent sometime design 5 of them. They are kinda of problemetic hight born that's or unwanted that's has been sent to work for chruch. they station in isolated fortress build to protect the vault that containd curse demon lord's artifact.

The first is lovable egomanic hight born that's date the wrong person of very important family. He have to be sent here's or face execution. The execution sentence came after he's recite an hour long speech of self praised.

The second is a bastard son of the duke with a Karti tribe women. He's has been sent to be a chruch soldier to avoid the duke's family embarrassment. On the day he was exile He punch half of his uncle teeth out.

The third is a aloof daughter of the duke. Lost all her title after her family rebel again the king. Her family bloodline rumor to be connect to the long extinct elf so she claimed. Maybe she just short and using bow is her try to rp as elf.

The fourth is mysterious old gentleman who's no one know why he's there in the first place. He's rumor to be the king brother spy master that's know to much of royal back door political deal. After he's retired he's become a risk to royal so he's face either execution or take a vow. he's not confirmed or denied that's claimed.

Honestly, I hope that the prince doesn’t become too corrupted and is similar to the white priestess turn shadow demon

Arthur Yeung

@ibenz009 Is the prince the new protagonist/hero? Also, how would Aria get a redesign?

Mark777

Very interesting, but having so many characters could be a bit difficult to manage. In any case, the ones I like the most are the sword demon and the spear demon. I'm very happy about the continuation of Demon Lord, good luck.

StarGazer

Love all of them! ^^

Weirdcourage

Looks promising I like it and it seems like some of my ideas from my comment on the last post gave you some inspiration. hope I helped. i'm looking forward to it.

Great designs but I think having their demoness forms shaded differently for each of them. Could get confusing

Benjamin Lawton

To be clear, the idea is that each of these "screw-ups" (minus the prince) will eventually be turned – or "reforged", as the case may be :p – into the "weapon demon" that's standing next to each of them in the image?

Benjamin Lawton

Ooh, good point! We haven't seen or heard from Aria in a while now! Sudden plot idea: The Demon Lord's forces attack the fortress for the artifact, and while the above team of "screw-up" nobles manage to fight them off, everyone but the prince is so badly wounded in the process that it's pretty much a Pyrrhic victory. (With at least one of those mortal wounds being from jumping in the way of a blow that would have felled the prince himself; maybe the old man.) Enter Aria, who's been fighting against the Demon Lord's forces ever since her own forced transformation, as well as plumbing every bit of demonic and transformation-based lore she can find, in the vague (and likely vain) hopes of restoring her old friends back to their human selves. She'd overheard about the upcoming attack and was trying to get there first in order to warn everyone; no such luck, obviously. She can't save the dying team members as they are now, unfortunately, but with their permission, she CAN enact an Emergency Transformation that – while turning their bodies into demons, yes – will actually bind their still-human souls to the prince's, providing all five of them with a measure of protection against the Demon Lord's corruption.

Arthur Yeung

@Benjamin Lawton Sounds interesting, but there's only one flaw ... why would they willingly serve the Demon Lord as her personal transforming weapons if half of the time, they were fiercely loyal to the prince? The Demon Lord would casually dispose of them at the hint of a rebellion and try another group now that she knows the basic process works. And why would this not be practiced before?

Benjamin Francis

The old man seems like a good story line to follow. I like the background and the idea of the spear as the demon weapon. The girl with elf in the family could be interesting as well, and the bow is different from the other weapon choices being more long range compared to swords or axes.

Corington

Is the third one wearing glasses? Looks cute if so!

the best thing in life is watch IBenz’s masterpiece

The sexiest corruption stories belongs to those with real character and humanity. You understand this soooo well.

Benjamin Lawton

You misread what I wrote – Aria sets it up so that they would be bound to and serve the Prince, NOT the Demon Lord. That said, I will admit that I'd forgotten that ibenz originally started this concept, with the intent of these guys becoming the DL's personal transforming weapon(s). Perhaps instead, they could serve as a sort-of "prototype" to what the DL will eventually get? Expansion on my original plot idea: Because of the nature of HOW the Demon Lord is reborn – merging with the body, mind, and soul of the Hero who killed them – and just how many times it's happened before, after a certain number of "resurrections", their memories of previous lives end up starting getting really jumbled and blurry. So this "living weapon demon, forged from human souls" thing? She may have known how to do that, in the far-distant past, but she's completely forgotten about it now – not just how to do it, but that it's even a thing. Likewise, she may remember that there IS one of her old artifacts in that fortress guarded by the heroes, but what it actually is or does? Not a clue anymore. (Hint: It's one of the key tools needed in the ritual to create those Living Weapon Demons. Both to create one at all, but also to designate who their Rightful Wielder™ is.) The attack on the fortress? Technically, it's a human victory, but realistically it's more like a mutual kill – if not for Aria showing up with her last-minute desperate Hail Mary (or is it Hail Devil?)-type play, the 58th Prince would have been literally the ONLY survivor, out of DOZENS of people, on BOTH sides. (The five shown here? Being nobles, they were simply the highest-ranking officers – the rest were just Red-Shirted grunts. And of course, the demons were all just wiped out to the last.) As it is, Aria's managed to steal a march on her former friend – unlike the Demon Lord who can't currently remember, Aria knows what the artifact is for, and is willing to use it to save these heroes' lives. Now, as to "forging" the four of them into Weapon Demons, the Good Guys actually aren't able to go through the full and complete ritual – mostly due to two factors: 1) They're rather seriously pressed for time, what with four of them being lethally wounded and all; and 2) the full ritual requiring more raw power, demonic or otherwise, than they have available or can draw on right now. So they have to jury-rig a lesser version. Which is actually a good thing. Because in the full version, after demonizing the bodies of the human participants, each possessing a different weapon form, the ritual would then forcibly *amalgamate* them all into a single being – to create a single Weapon Demon, forged from multiple human souls, able to shapeshift into multiple different weapons. (On top of that, since the demon's form as a weapon tended to reflect the weapon they used as a human, previous Demon Lords sometimes liked to "weaponize" new types of weapon-users they'd never encountered before, adding them to the gestalt.) So rather than one Weapon Demon with four different weapon forms (sword, warhammer, bow, spear), instead the Prince now has a "harem" of four demonic beauties, each able to change into only one weapon.

Arthur Yeung

@Benjamin Lawton Given that the Demon Lord initially lost the sword from her past life, she would need sufficient weapons to set up her showdown with the new hero. On top of that, the prince's LACK of a demon form, tells me he will be slaughtered, sucked dry, or be lucky enough to escape to try and challenge the Demon Lord one day. On top of that, given that past corruptions included containing the souls/spirits, them being the villain protagonists is likely non-negotiable. Hell, even the blue-haired guard (and the Tail's first host) was corrupted in body and spirit, as her ghosts accompanies/haunts Gilda's entourage after she was buried. It is likely Ibenz will have them corrupted into four demons, as per Ibenz's track record. This is the premise of his work, after all. Aria and the Prince will likely escape, and try to train with the sword to challenge the Demon Lord.

Benjamin Lawton

And the entire thrust of my idea is that, *if not for Aria's involvement*, that is exactly how it would have gone down. Instead, because Aria happened to know more about the ritual than the Demon Lord – due to the latter's blurry memories – she was able to hijack it for her own purposes. Moreover, I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the… let's call it the corruption "mechanic" in these comics, has always seemed to be of a "one-two punch" variety: either the body or soul is infected and transformed *first*, then it uses that as a foothold to spread to the other half. Even for Aria, who managed to successfully fight off the soul corruption to retain (most of) her humanity, that still holds true. And if the corruption can be prevented once, it can be done so again. My idea is that, by linking their souls to the Prince's, Aria has inadvertently given these new demons a means to *identify* whenever corruption is trying to (further) seep into their own minds and spirits – essentially, comparing his "light", to darkness trying to invade them – and from there, to fight it off, thereby holding onto their humanity. It doesn't make them immune; just better equipped to resist. (And at the same time, should a demon try to corrupt the Prince directly, they'll find he's unexpectedly *five times harder* to do so than the average human, if not more. Loyalty is a two-way street, after all.)

Benjamin Lawton

Plus, like you just said, going by Ibenz's track record, it's all but EXPECTED that the Demon Lord's forces are going to completely curb-stomp the "Forces of Light", with only the Prince's exact fate being even slightly up in the air. Let's try and go for a slightly different outcome for once, shall we? Shake the pattern up a bit.

Arthur Yeung

@Benjamin Lawton The problem is ... ensuring that the squad has a chance to side with the prince and against the Demon Lord, will turn the tide so heavily against the Demon forces because of one thing ... the individual skill/mind of the demonic characters. Currently, the Demon Lord has Gilda and her brainless minions/vessels, Fang, Rea (and potentially the ghost), but has no personal weapon of her own. She's acquired enough experience that fighting the holy sword barehanded will be her demise ... or merely allow her to reincarnate again and repeat the cycle endlessly. Everyone else are either feral, impulsive, dead, or all of the above. It's been established that the Demon Lord needs a new weapon or two to properly fight against the Holy Sword. And later on, challenge the Goddess' forces. These are plot points that need to be paid off, because the Demon Lord intends to gather as many forces to set up a grand battle. Now you want to reduce the tension from the Demon Lord's faction so drastically that the Demon Lord has no personal weapon, and fewer skilled servants to fight on her behalf? We aren't even sure that the Prince will survive, let alone be the hero candidate. Aria is determined as the deuteragonist, but she first needs a proper plan and champion to challenge the Demon Lord. She barely escaped the Demon Lord's clutches when she chose to rebel. It may be predictable, yes, but the Demon Lord as the current primary antagonist needs to be strong and start the story with as many upper hands as possible, so that Aria and her champion can learn how to deal with the increasing stakes as the story progresses.

Benjamin Lawton

Okay, you seem to be basing your entire argument off of a couple of fairly erroneous assumptions: First, just because the Demon Lord doesn't have a new Personal Weapon RTFN, *doesn't* mean she can't use other, lesser weapons in the meantime. Sure, one of those obviously wouldn't survive a clash against the Holy Sword… or even withstand the full might of her own power… but you know what? So long as the Holy Sword hasn't yet chosen a new wielder, there won't *be* a scenario where her current blade would have to face off against it! So until she gets that replacement Demon Sword made, a mundane blade will be enough for now. Second, you're acting as if this ritual I've come up with, can only ever be used just the once – that the Demon Lord's entire "hopes" of getting a new Weapon out of this process, somehow rests solely on these four about-to-be-former humans, and that them managing to evade her control will somehow render her incapable of casting the ritual *again* somewhere else, with a different batch of humans. Rather than an all-or-nothing effort, think of the transformation of this group instead as a first attempt, a prototype effort. A way to knock the rust of forgetfulness off, after who-even-knows how long it's been since the ritual was last used.

I love these side by side profiles, it really helps the viewer appreciate the different artistic choices present in each charecter and how they are similar but unique in meaningful ways!

Arthur Yeung

@Benjamin Lawton The Demon Lord has had MULTIPLE lifetimes' worth of reincarnations, hosts, and assimilated bodies, all enslaved to her will. She knows from experience that she needs a weapon ASAP, now that she knows the Holy Sword rejects her, and she openly gave it to Aria instead of keeping it under lock and key. Given Ibenz's past experience with the comics, for the sake of expanding the story, he is likely to make this chapter 50 pages or more in the name of adding new details or redrawing old ones. His page average from Chapter 1 (circa 2019), was about 15. Now after the Latex story, it's now 42 pages - a threefold increase. With this being the largest group of corrupted individuals in a single installment, it is likely that trying to create EIGHT different weapon demon designs and transformation sequence in a roughly 50-60 page story within the span of 1-2 years is just not feasible, due to character bloat/pacing bloat. I get it - you want a rich story where the hero has the best fighting chance possible. But given production pipelines, this is not likely feasible. Already there were backs and forths, and we're also expecting an ARIA redesign shortly. Not to mention over-stretching the story means delaying the remainder of his 26-commission backlog that started over three years ago, and other priorities such as Liquid Mercury RE Chapters 3 and beyond. That IP has not diverged beyond the scientist's nano-organic conversion yet in the RE verse.
