Hey Everyone!
Fun week working on environments.
After working on the fixes for MC's home, working on scenes with the camera closer I noticed some parts the textures were skewed. This was my bad. After fixing the bad polys I showed, I did a rush job on the mapping the UVs on the repaired area. Since this will be a key location (will essentially be replacing the underground workshop :( ) I took a day to properly clean up the UV maps for the location.
The larger patterns is where I cleaned things up. The polys where it just looks like rainbow sheen are areas that needed to be fixed. Especially the greenish looking area toward the top. But at a distance, it does look fine.
Here's what it looks like when you actually zoom in. The polys should have clean, distinguishable patterns laid out. The part that looks like you're watching the spice channel in the 90s is where the textures will look very skewed. Stretched out in whatever direction its being stretched out and in renders it'll be very noticeable.
This is mostly cleaned up. I just needed to flip the UV so the format reads left to right. You generally want the pattern to flow in a direction. In this case, the pattern flows up the stairs.
I also purchased a new program for another location I worked on. I really dig this program and look forward to being more proficient for when it comes time to work on my fantasy AVN.
It's a solid foundation and I'll be tweaking it a bit further in Blender to add the detail I need for this particular scene. Some movie magic, behind the scenes...the terrain is an island. But the actual shot will be tightened up and contained in the red area. So in the scene, we'll see some buildings in the background, not an isolated island.
Back into my dungeon I go!
Weather is finally cooling down in my neck of the woods. Hopefully you all are staying nice and comfy!
