For those who don't know what a pre-master is:

It's the whole bounce of the track with nothing on the master (expect maybe a little mix compression) then it must not be peaking over around -4dB. This is called headroom, every mastering engineer needs headroom to make little EQ/ compression changes etc that addd to the signal. Loudness is achieved at the end of the process.
