As promised, the next chapter of Dragon Leveling, Chapter 65: "...The More They Stay the Same", is here, guys!

Have a good time reading! Really sorry for the wait, but I kept my promise and got this one out as quickly as I could for you guys. I had actually already started writing it before, so I only needed to finish the rest to get it out. Hopefully that also means the wait for the next chapter won't be quite as long this time around.

As always, make sure to leave me a heart and a review to tell me what you think in the comment section once you have finished reading.

I will come back really soon with the next updates!

Dragon Leveling Ch.65

Summary: The morning after the day he was killed by his girlfriend, Issei woke up and saw two things. First was Rias Gremory sleeping next to him in his bed, and second was a floating blue window congratulating him on becoming The Player and telling him to go work out as a daily quest.

I have to say i feel like this plot is a bit... silly. They're operating under A LOT of assumptions here (I haven't read the full solo levelling man, what so if there is any info in there that justifies this, I don't know it), for starters, who's to say that all the locations in the red gates are in the same dimension? Second of all, what's to say it would even do anything? It could just be a minor inconvenience to the Monarchs at best and thirdly what's to say it won't cause them to go full-on invasion before anyone's even close to ready? I could see OG Cao cao doing this but Goto deciding to genocide an entire species on the off chance it MIGHT end things now seems a bit daft

Durdens Wrath

Goto was willing to let the entirety of the Korea S ranks die in canon. This seems on brand

Durdens Wrath

Issei needs to kill Cao Cao, Jeanne, Hercules, Georg, and Goto and raise them as shadows

Sure, but that would have had a tangible benefit to his country, and they had no reason to believe at the time that it wouldn't work. In this case, they have absolutely no way of knowing whether this will work or just make things worse. It's the difference between having no reason to believe a plan won't work and no reason to believe it will.

After the cliffhanger on the last chapter you can bet that I was really waiting for how you were going to follow it up. And you certainly didn't disappoint. Now that we know what exactly Goto was planning it is clear to see that things are really worse than I could have ever predicted. Also having him explain himself makes sense considering how he's not exactly doing it for evil reasons, at least in his mind. The fight Issei had with Cao Cao was a highlight of the chapter for me because it is another case of him using knowledge he got in the other world to his benefit. In this case is how Cao Cao's balance breaker works. Other than that it's clear to see that he is no match against Goto but thankfully he has good allies both from his shadows and his fellow peerage members. And if the steaks were not bad enough already, the fact that both Koneko and Kunou are being affected already is a good showcase of what's to come even if we don't really see it happen. So yeah, this was one hell of a chapter.

Yes, you are right, Goto is operating under a lot of assumptions. But for him, something is better than nothing. How many times have we seen goverments resorting to nuclear weapons to quickly end this when the situation gets out of hands in movies, not knowing whether it would really end the disaster? You have to keep in mind, that the situation with Gate has been getting out of hands in this world, and Goto, as the strongest in Japan, has been leading the fight against almost every S-rank and highest ranking Gate in the country, moving nonstop to end them and having little break time. He has been seeing the worst of it all, and the report Issei brought back about the Monarchs didn't really help at all. He knows they are on a timer as the Monarchs are making vessels to cross over their world, and it's more or less he's willing to do anything to prevent that. Goto is a desperate man, and he's under a lot of pressure with that title of National Level, with all of his responsibility, both new and old as the mentor and monument that many Heroes look up to. Desperation can make people make desperate choices, and it's just as Reiji just said: "It's madness" what he's doing. Who's to say all that he hasn't gone mad with all the horror he has been seeing, and the pressure he's been under, while believing that he's still sane? There are also other reasons, but I won't spoil it yet because it's very crucial for why he makes such a choice. Just wait and see, my friend.

As cool as that’d be. Raising people who are confirmed to be respected (possibly all highly), with the majority of Japan’s Hero forces siding with Goto, would not be entirely advisable because it’d cause a lot of waves not just in the Hero factions across the world, but also the other supernatural factions seeing Issei not let Goto and his followers rest. Then again it’d be different if Goto asks Issei to and has audience to back him up.
