So I'm gonna level- I got DESTROYED on my taxes and I'm going to be paying them off in the following months, so I'm going to be making an insane amount of content to afford living (don't up your pledge I got this I'm gonna clutch).

My question is: in order to incentivize patronage, what perks would you like to see that you think would drive people here? I was thinking maybe one bonus video (10-15 mins) a month and maybe a bi-monthly unscripted exploration of a topic recommended by a patron. Would that be good? And what else would you like to see?

I'm currently also working to compile the music I make for the videos into a big dropbox folder that I can update routinely with new royalty free music for any creators/folks who want to use them- and I'm going to try to transition my channel to exclusively using my music.

Maybe a sort of production tutorial for the videos as well? How to light/do audio, how I color the footage, my thoughts on composition, workflow, etc. Music tutorials? Anything goes!

Everything yes! Good luck paying everything off ~

I think an unscripted patron-only Q&A video like every month or so would be nice :)

Drifter

I think that a "hey here's how I got started doing video content" and doing an *actual* step by step thing starting from absolute zero would be cool and informative for up n comers

A production perk would be good. Maybe one of the higher tiers could be that a person could send you a track of theirs and you offer them constructive criticism on how to improve? Maybe even just blog / vlogs about your scripting and editing process. Also it might open up a can of worms and I apologise if you’ve already considered and decided against this, but a discord server is always a popular perk. I fully understand if that’s not something you’re willing to do though since it can get messy, but I’ve seen a few super wholesome discord servers with no drama. It all depends on the audience in there, and I think the kind of people who would pledge to you can be trusted, but that’s obviously your choice to make. :)

Absolutely onboard with more unscripted short videos like you’ve been posting as one-takes. I’m on a few patreon pages focusing on an already established creator’s newer podcast, and the most popular (and imo best) posts are the shorter / off the cuff / blooper videos.

The Scare Lab

Oh, and one I missed. Maybe a patreon exclusive live steam once a month where we can hang and talk about whatever you want to talk about or maybe watch something with you that you want to draw our attention to but not make a video about? I know you once did a live reaction to that horrid crypto island thing on somebody else’s channel, so I think something like that could be really enjoyable.

fenn!

it would be super fun to see some short gaming videos! maybe patrons could suggest some games?

Production tutorials for videos and music would be very cool to see. And I would be interested in some royalty free music to use in videos!

I’d up my tier for classes on your writing and filmmaking techniques. I say “classes,” but they don’t have to be super formal or anything. Just talking through stuff like constructing one of your roast segments or DIY lighting setups. Also, if I wasn’t already, I’d have subbed here for your music offerings. I really want to try making videos again and having access to a royalty-free library from a creator I enjoy is definitely pushing me toward actually doing the thing.

Patron only live streams are a popular one! Access to a patron only discord is another common perk I see.

No extra incentive needed from my perspective. Dont throw too much into Patreon to the point where it becomes a new job!

i would love to know more about music production and your process when it comes to making videos. live streams would be fire too. i guess whatever you feel comfortable and passionate about doing at a given moment cannot stress enough that informal is kind of the appeal of patreon (for me) so i am honestly happy with anything

thetreee

in terms of patreon only videos i’ve seen people do something that relates to the video they posted but just a little more in depth, like going off on a tangent about something that relates to the main channel video in order to drive traffic this way. plus it’s not like a whole new video so it’s a lil easier for the creator.

Chromatic Mage

I’d love to know more about how you write and produce your video essays. Literally any aspects of that.

Liv

Live q&as are fun imo

TheUndyingSnag

yes please talk about music production, or if it's something you're interested in you could make a video about like your musical inspirations or something

Clementine Blue

I think q&as would be nice, behind the scenes/musings about recent videos as well, or teasers for stuff coming up soon/early videos, gaming content would be cool or streams. even like "blog" posts where you just talk about what you're working on, what you've been thinking about lately, what you've been playing/watching/reading, etc.

Micah Callari

Everything here would be awesome tbh, i’m still down to pay w no perks but you could probably spread the different perks across tiers, like maybe royalty free music for the first tier and then bonus videos added on the second tier etc, whatever works for you. good luck paying your taxes!!!!!!

if you’re going to do a dropbox folder, leave a link in there to donate a couple bucks! people can leave money if they feel.

Patricia Hayes Cavanagh

plus (as someone who also does marketing + patreon for artists), consider that your core audience will be happy to chuck you a few dollars for no extra content - so put in the effort to things you can already do as bonuses, and not whole new tasks on top of everything. realistic goals for things you can consistently do is key! this is a no burnout zone!

melatonin bruv

i like the idea of a bonus video maybe like jenny nicholson does where we submit videos ideas (could be silly or unrelated to "big topics") and you ramble about it for 10 or so minutes, but a more techy video would be nice shift in content

SpitBites

I think it could be fun to do live streams while you edit stuff. Just a thought. I don't need to see what you're editing if you don't want to, but body doubling on lives helps me get stuff done.

Dimitry

Would love to get a BTS ep on what actually happened with your taxes! I feel like so many other creators an solopreneurs (me included) are going through the same horrible journey D:

As a lil guy who really really wants to start making music- I'd definetly go up a tier to get some tutorials. I want to create my own ambient/background orchestrations as a lil trans guy podcaster- so ye :3
