Ok guys I took Saturday off just to gather some more inspirational material and to recharge, after that I took a little time to add just a little more detail to what I already modeled, not much really, but I thought it was looking a little too flat, but I didn’t want to go overboard either, and then I modeled the basic shape of the next piece, I don’t even know what that thing is called, the one under I am almost sure that it is called a camisole or something, but what would you say the new piece is called, a jacket? Lol I really don’t know, anyway as you can see there is almost no detail on those sleeves and they are supposed to look like a crumpled piece of paper, almost, I will work on this piece over the week, and add more frills here and there, I really can see this outfit benefiting from the use of some alpha textures on those frills and lace, what do you think.

Looks great already. No idea about the terminology for this kind of outfit, lol. For making wrinkles/folds I like to use a technique where I subdivide, or manually add edge loops where I want wrinkles. Then shape the fold, and terminate it where it should end, by merging the vertices of 2 or 3 edge loops. Then I add subdivision creases, so when it's subdivided for the final version the wrinkles look nice and clean. Yeah that is almost what I do when I need extra geometry on a specific area, the difference is that I don’t use the subdivide option, I use “inset”, “extrude”, “edge turn” or rip the geometry and fill the hole with new geometry, using quads only, I also add new loops but I usually do that on an area that I previously used inset on and the new loop terminates itself, I hope that made sense, and when I try to reduce geometry I either use “dissolve edge” or “edge collapse”, the later is pretty much the same as you describes about merging 3 vertices together and leaving a diamond quad as a result, in this case I think I only added 3 new loops, 2 of them are for the seams of the “jacket”.
