All right, I gotta ask... Do you have boxed meals where you're from? Like, Hamburger Helper? They're basically simple pre-packaged pasta meals with seasoning packets that you just add meat to. Beef stroganoff, creamy tuna pasta, that kinda stuff. Because we used to get those all the time in Louisiana, but we haven't found ANY equivalent here in Oregon. It's all just mac n' cheese. They have normal pasta shells in boxes, yeah, but no meal kits like Hamburger Helper. I asked a clerk at Whole Foods if they had any boxed meals, and he just looked at me weird. I always figured Hamburger Helper was a national staple, but I guess not? This is the greatest degree of culture shock we've experienced yet.

That's all for today, though! Thank you so much for your support, and see you on Monday!

I literally had leftover hamburger helper for dinner this shift.

To answer your boxed meal question: I bet if you went to whatever the local supermarket chain is there, you would find it. I wouldn't expect it to be at whole foods

Steven Blankenheim

I'm in Oregon, to the South of y'all. We do have such staples. You have to go to corporate grocery stores though. WinCo Foods/Waremart is an excellent option, the supermarket chain is locally owned by employees. BiMart, $5 lifetime membership but excellent sales and had certain NW boxed meals and stuff like Bob's Red Mill stuff. Safeway is very expensive relatively but does have a good selection of produce that can be better than WinCo.

We had Hamburger Helper in PDX when I grew up, but that was back in the 70s when the town was way less hipster. Maybe you should try Fred Meyer or Safeway instead of Whole Foods?

Jim Avery

You can't find Hamburger Helper at Whole Foods because it's only a helper, not a whole food. I'll see myself out

Yesssssss! Feel the character growth Seth! FEEL IT!

NitroNick9000

Bro, Cheesy Tuna Pasta is literally my favorite dish! I'd fight and kill people for a plate

ThatDarkDude

YES we do have Hamburger Helper in my State, try going to a local grocery store instead of Whole Foods On another note, next time you go to the store get a bottle of hot sauce for Seth. It might help the improve the taste of the crow Elizabeth is feeding him

Like other people said I'm sure the closest Walmart or grocery chain equivalent probably has it but at whole foods the closest thing you'll probably find is one of the frozen skillet meal type things. You can also get a similar taste DIY with pretty minimal ingredients. Like for the stroganoff just get some egg noodles and cook them in some onion soup mix with half milk and half water for the liquid then just add some sour cream and black pepper at the end. It might take some trial and error to get ratios right and you may want to add some other flavors but it's nearly as easy, a little cheaper per serving and probably taste better while still hitting that similar garbage food nostalgia taste.

You can find those pre-packaged things at Safeway easily enough :)

Peter Sadowski

Yeah, whole foods might be too snooty for hamburger helper. Lol

Quadrant

I think Seth needs that drink lol We do have meal packs and individual sauces. I'm not sure we have seasoning that comes included for burgers. We can get prepared burgers.

I've lived in Washington, Texas, and Georgia, and worked in a few grocery stores too, and the idea of a place not having Hamburger Helper is wild to me!

Mad respect for Leslie's expressions! They draw them amazingly! I can seriously feel the guilt setting in for Seth after Elizabeth thoroughly roasted him. Gotta love the King's timing xD I'm from Australia, so I dont actually know what Hamburger Helper is. But we do have boxed meals over here. Things like Birdseye and McCain

Larry

Yes, we have Hamburger Helper in stores (we prepare it with ground turkey), but we make our own, instead, and keep several kinds in the pantry. There are many recipes online. Much much cheaper. For the purchased stuff, I'm not surprised Amazon/Whole Foods doesn't have it.

seth finally got hit with what he needed to hear, lets hope he listens

Hm, OK, possible ways this could go: 1) Seth gets his mojo back, agrees to the idea, but works out conditions with King to make sure Steg and Suria don't lose control of the situation and whatnot. 2a) Seth abdicates, feeling unfit to be their manager, and Liz takes over with King as financier. 2b) Seth sorta pretends to abdicate. He deduces that the best way to help the band (and protect his company from liability) is if Roxanne believes that they fired him for breach of contract and hired Liz. That way, Seth could work on some new band as a distraction to draw away Roxanne's attention while the Rock Cocks would officially go independent. If we end up with 2b, I hope Seth decides to sign the "Three Wise Men" teased back in page 183. It would drive Roxanne absolutely crazy if Seth managed to snipe the wholesome music spotlight away from Rocket Roller with the squeakiest most inoffensive and clueless Christian rock band imaginable. Basically a pincer attack, competing with Rocket Roller with a raunchier and a cleaner band at the same time. It would also be HILARIOUS to see Seth pretend to be legitimately interested in signing a Christian rock band. The issue with that is that if they do succeed in tanking Rocket Roller's stock, there's a good chance Roxanne will just decide to undermine Liz (perhaps by discovering/revealing a certain terrible secret that Liz still hasn't admitted to yet, LIZ) and try to scoop up the Rock Cocks like she wanted from the very beginning. And if none of this happens, I have a GREAT idea for Rock Cocks fan-fiction XD

Here in Nebraska hamburger helper a poor af staple food and one of my personal childhood comfort foods (still hits to this day tbh) and if they don’t have it in Oregon that’s defs a huge bummer

Romcommunist

Walmart or Fred Meyer should have them.

The range of expressions on Liz and Seth here is so cool
