Sorry about the delay! Hope you all enjoyed the rewards this month! Now to start thinking up next month's... Maid May, mayhaps? One of those tiny aprons with nothing underneath? I don't think we've done that just yet... But for whomth?

Ended up having a nice date day and seeing the Mario Galaxy movie. It was... okay! It's visually beautiful, with clearly a lot of care and detail put into every frame of animation. Illumination DOES know how to animate the hell out of stuff even if it's all very much in their house-style. The writing was... not great. Scenes move way too fast, problems are introduced and the immediately solved, most of the written jokes don't really land. But they do a hell of a job intepreting the Mario world in some really fun ways. Lots of great cameos, it's always fun seeing some iconic places on the big screen. I think the movie works far better as a Mario anniversary event than a "real" movie, something akin to FFVII Advent Children. It plays exclusively to a crowd that loves Nintendo, and has nothing for you if you're not a part of that crowd. I think it's fairly near in that kind of sense, just how hard it plays EXCLUSIVELY within the Nintendo sandbox in ways that say, the Sonic movie doesn't (with its real-world locations and human cast). I had fun, though. A solid 5/10 if there ever was one.
