Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 39, 2024) (Patreon)
Content
Hello there, and welcome to your weekly update on all things Digital Foundry. Lots going on and *checks notes* I'm not entirely sure how much I can share right now. So let's get on with the post and see where we find ourselves.
Before we go on, I want to temper expectation levels and just say - for the record - that we have nothing on Switch 2 planned and none of the embargoed content mentioned here has anything to do with Nintendo. It's mostly about games, the volume of which has increased substantially in the last couple of weeks.
John is off on vacation today, heading off to Japan for a couple of weeks. However, we has left us with a parting gift - a review for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom which we'll be running at some point this week.
Fresh off his Jedi: Survivor last gen hijinks and shenanigans, Tom has moved on to the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and beyond that, moves onto embargoed content. I mean, if you look at some of the games coming early October you should have some idea of what some of this stuff may (or may not, I guess) be.
Oliver continues to be prolific - lots going on in the background but it is, inevitably, embargoed content. You shouldn't have to wait too long to find out what it is though. Once that's out of the way, he's almost done with his long-awaited 'Bazzite on ROG Ally' #content!
Rich (ie me) has some (you guessed it) embargoed content to sort out this week, but I'm also going to be looking at the Lunar Lake mobile offering from Intel, with a dash of Strix Point if I can get a laptop in.
Alex is working through his God of War Ragnarok PC coverage, and beyond that, he's looking for another smaller project to tackle in concert with - you guessed it - embargoed content.
Lots going on, so Will is on hand to help out with our Eurogamer #content while at the same time beginning the big CPU rebenching exercise now that Ryzen AGESAs are done and Windows updates have updated. We're happy to report that Illusion has now added automated benchmarking support for Baldur's Gate 3 (yes, Act 3) and F1 24.
Lots more going on in the background, of course, and the big PC benchmarking project continues apace along with further refinement to tools - we're starting to begin to tackle the thorny issue of HDMI 2.1 4K 120 VRR capture with low frame-rate compensation factored into the calculations. And it's good to know that with apparent 8K support happening on PS5 Pro, the investments we made in both 4K 120 and 8K 60 mean we're prepared for that once we get hold of hardware.
That's all for now though. I should say that once developers have the all-clear, we will be doing our best to do more PS5 Pro patch updates - hopefully #content that's a little more comprehensive than the FF7R stuff we did last week.
Have a great week!
