It's no secret now - we've got PlayStation 5 Pro... and now we're asking you for your input on what you would like to see tested. Before we go on, yes, we have tested the HDMI controller and we will have bandwidth answers for you. But beyond that... what do specific questions do you have that you'd like to see answered primarily in my hardware review?

In fact, anything really, as we're considering a PS5 Pro Q+A where we do the tests you'd like to see. Please remember we have limited time, so maybe ensure there's a mixture of things we can test quickly and maybe some ideas for 'deeper dives'.

Very curious to see what you come up with - so, the stage (or rather the empty box below) is all yours!

Screw it, benchmark Roblox, not because it would be very useful but for the memes

Armando Rangel

Could you please test and compare the input lag on the PlayStation 5 Pro versus the standard PlayStation 5, especially in fast-paced games like fighting games? I’m particularly interested in seeing if the Pro model offers any improvements in input response time for fighting games, where quick and precise inputs are crucial.

Leftisthominid

Metaphor Spider Man 2 Star Wars Outlaws Octopath Traveler 2

Joseph Caruso

Could you test at least one PS5 game that currently does not have a PS5 Pro mode? Maybe Astro Bot? Thanks!

rave2noon

For the hardware, heat, noise, idle power draw would be awesome. For updated games, I don't know how you can possibly prioritize. I'm most interested in Boost Mode (since we don't know anything yet), and updates to troubled games like Outlaws, FFVII, etc..

Pedro Carvalho

Metaphor, also retest on the PS5 since I heard the patches fixed the performance (very unlikely, imo).

Christoph Reiter

I would love to watch a PS5 Pro tech review of Dragon Age The Veilguard.

Adam Holmberg

Jedi Survivor (assuming the patch drops in time?) I'm so curious about how the image quality ends up with PSSR.

Chris Herbert

Star Wars Outlaws. Some moments of really really poor image quality on the base PS5, especially in performance mode.

Jamie

Monster Hunter Wilds for sure. As that is a limited time beta. CMOS battery removal tests do digital games still work etc.

Chungo

Until Dawn having the performance issues it does seems like a good candidate. Would also like to see Resident Evil 4 remake since iirc it lets you turn individual settings on or off.

Having an AI-neurysm

Fan noise, disc drive noise, coil whine, and power consumption vs the OG CFI-1000 model – as that’s what I imagine a lot of people will be upgrading from. Also can you check out the supposed CMOS battery access slot on the right side near the disc drive section? If embargo permits that

Darth Plaguies the unwise

I'd like to see some pro boost applied to to non native ps5 pro games. Can ps5 pro force pssr on unsupported games like metaphor refantazio to clean up the image? Also, could you do testing on the monster hunter wilds beta in the performance mode? I know native support will come later, but curious how much the pro will muscle it's way to better fps.

Peter

The Monster Hunter Wilds Beta would be a good one. It is pretty awful on PS5 imo and it's heavy on PC, even on a top fo the line PC. Beyond that, it would be interesting to see Alan Wake 2 and what bespoke settings have been applied compared to PC and lastly (for now...) Black Myth Wukong

Jonathan

I’d like to hear thoughts about how the PS5 pro handles games with existing 40fps modes. How does the PS5 pro version of 40 fps stack up to the pro 30 fps? Do you think the pro makes it any easier for devs to use 40 fps?

beer chugger 209

Hello crew. Top of the morning to ya. I m sure we all curious about blood borne. Finally stable game ? Also what games that support 120f FPS modes. Those more stable ? Like cod and others. How does help Alan wake 2 Silent hill 2 60fps modes ?

If the VRR window has changed

Question Generated By JensenGPT

Could we get some rudimentary temperature + fan noise level tests done between an original base PS5, a slim, and the Pro? I know GamersNexus and Austin Evans are probably gonna go more in-depth for those but I would love to see those tested here. Also, maybe a boot time + game launch load time test to see if the extra hardware grunt in the PS5 Pro has any effect?

Demstel

Outlaws, silent hill2, space marine2

Peter

The for now didn't last long.... Thermals and power draw under load would also be interesting

TheMightyEthan

Does the Touryst automagically output at full 8k now that the console supports it? Also how does Ghostrunner's 120 mode run (or any un-Pro-patched game with a 120 mode, for that matter)?

Peter Karadimas

One of the touted features is improved ray tracing performance. Are there any games which effectively quantify the level of improvement for just this feature? Are we now at Nvidia levels of ray tracing performance yet, or is it impossible to isolate from PSSR and the GPU improvements?

Valon Fazlija

PSVR2 Granturismo 7 and dragon's dogma 2 😊

Are copy to console times reduced, wifi vs ethernet speeds, which older games run better from PS+, and specifically, how does Elden Ring run. Thanks!

DEE BATCH

Wukong if patched and in Boost Mode, Alan Wake 2 if in Boost Mode or unlocked mode with RT. Any graphical games that have an unlocked, dynamic scaling mode so you can bench the true raster performance. Any game that is GPU heavy with unlocked mode on PS5 Pro. Thanks

Spoggi99

Hi DF, I am really interested in fan noise. Especially since I had to replace my original PS5‘s fan due to the "ufo-sound" issue some original launch units suffered from. Also, a deeper look into VRR would be great. Even though I don’t expect any changes in that regard. Best wishes and keep up the great work!

(Don’t be a) Richard

Link Audio support - can one pair a Sony headset without their dongle. Noise and do you notice the fans kicking in.

Rafael Godinho

Well if the bandwidth tests are already covered I guess I would love to see 4 things not covered in the previews. Below a few examples as well. - Performance gains in unlocked frame rate games without PS5 Pro Patch: Elden Ring (not unlocked but unstable), Ghostwire Tokyo to analyze Raytracing performance, Resident Evil 2/3 Remake PS5, Uncharted Thieves Collection unlocked, Control with RT in the photo mode unlocks the frame rate - Image quality improvements in games that tackles DRS strongly without PS5 Pro Patch: Metro Exodus comes to my mind in the Taiga level, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, Doom Eternal with Raytracing - Games not covered in the preview with Pro Patch: Dragon Age Veilguard, Alan Wake 2, Star Wars Outlaws and Resident Evil 4R/Village, Lies of P - Games with new visual features: Spider-Man 2, Ratchet and probably all Insomniac titles received toggles for RTAO and quality settings for the RT stuff For the sake of testing I would even add a PS4 title like Wolfenstein to see if it can run at 4K 60 with the DRS outside of the aggressive toggle.

CodeMalfunction

How does the PS5 Pro run PS4 games that never received any PS4 Pro update? For example, is there any additional upscaling for Killzone Shadowfall?

Mr_Weis

Monster Hunter wilds beta test! Also curious to Immortals of Avium, Metro Exodus (because of dynamic resolution scaling) and Elden Ring

Hey gents, hope you’re well! Always appreciate your excellent in-depth coverage. Here are some things that I’d be curious to know: • How significantly does WiFi 7 impact the experience of gaming online and downloading games from the PlayStation Store when compared to a WiFi 5 or 6 connection? Internet speeds vary significantly from ISP to ISP and location to location, so it’s impossible to say if your results will be consistent with other users, but it’d be interesting to see how much it changes your anecdotal experience. • Piggy backing off of that, how much does WiFi 7 affect the PlayStation Portal experience and Remote Play in general across PC/Mac and iOS/Android apps? • Are there any performance differences when it comes to the internal NVME SSDs and external NVME SSDs? If so, does that result in slightly better loading times? • Are there any performance gains whatsoever for PSVR 2 games? I know there’s only 2 that are announced to be getting Pro enhanced, but I’d be curious if the extra GPU and slightly more CPU power deliver any performance gains even on unpatched games. • It’d be interesting to see a sampling of some technically demanding PS4 games running on the Pro to see if the Game Boost feature consistently delivers better performance in those games. Looking forward to seeing all of your PS5 Pro coverage!

Calvin Lazar

I would like to see Boost mode, PSSR positive and negative, native res, input lag ssd speed, and vrr,. Test games like Cyberpunk RT, Star Wars Outlaws,Survivor, RE4, Dragon Dogma. Also comparison 4070, 6800XT, 3080, and 7900GRE rasterization and RT.

captainbridger

A game without a PS5 Pro Upgrade that offers uncapped frame rates (via VRR) compared between a PS5 and a PS5 Pro.

bloodiOS

Boost mode's impact on PS4 games.

Max

UE5 titles deploying the full feature set of lumen, nanite and VSMs where base PS5 struggles to keep 60fps with good image quality

TheMightyAR

In terms of enhanced games, for me rise of the ronin, jedi survivor and star wars outlaws as they all suffer pretty heavily from FSR. Other than that probably UE5/heavy games that have quite low res in their performance modes to see what difference boost mode makes.

captainbridger

John will hate this, but PS Portal. Is the streaming lag improved?

Pelicanman

I’d be interested to see a wi-fi speed comparison with the base PS5, now that the Professional has Wi-Fi 7 on board.

Dan Matte

Returnal please! Or any PS5 game that used dynamic res, where peak resolution might increase.

Matthew Santa Maria

Would love to see how metaphor re-fantazio's unlocked frame rate does with PS5 pro vs base PS5. And if we can get a stable 60 fps if we disable the 120 hz mode.

Ferdinand

Obviously immortals of Aveum with and without frame gen.

DaJaCo (Dan)

1- Does it still have the convoluted elevated APU with encapsulated "liquid metal" thermal compound? 2- Are there any changes to the heatsink or fan configuration? 3- Is there any rational explanation as to why the upper panels from the slim do not fit (i.e. major components in the way of original clip locations)? 4- If the HDMI bandwidth is opened up wider - are there any additional benefits that could be utilised on PS5 Pro that perhaps havent been considered? 5- Does the central black vent region serve any function for cooling, originally it seemed like it was to space the panels out so that the device could be larger while retaining panel compatibility with the slim.. but this no longer makes sense with recent info suggesting the upper panels are not compatible..? 6- As you fit the Disk drive, do you feel pronounced wave of professionalism wash over you, seemingly irreversibly - until you realise the drive can be removed? (PROfessionals must always fit their own drives. Amateurs can buy them factory fitted)

Matthew Santa Maria

Patches definitely did not fix the performance. Still hitting the vrr floor on PS5 unfortunately.

Container7

Is it Louder or Quieter than the PS5?

trent howell

A quick tour of EA sports games. Not particularly good, but they do sell to a huge audience, and it'll be curious to see what they do... If anything.

alexrdavies

Boot a game with console commands (ARK, Skyrim, Gary's Mod), and spawn physics props until the game slows and falls over. Won't tell us much, but will be very funny!

alexrdavies

How do heat and noise compare to base PS5?

Gluten-Free Potato Glutton

I'm curious about the raw gpu boost for legacy/base PS5 fidelity modes of VRR enabled Sony 1st party titles such as Spider-Man, Ratchet, and TLOU. How close do they get to reaching and/or maintaining 60fps?

Stiggles

Bloodborne Black Myth Wukong Elden Ring Forspoken Anything that may be improved with Boost mode - we need *answers* about boost mode!

Stuart Hart

I’d be interested to see if performance mode on FF15 is more stable, as well as having better image quality. Also interested to see if titles that already had a solid framerate have any additional input lag (eg. Street Fighter 6)?

Taggen86

Would be cool to test a game with an unlocked frame rate with the same RT modes on ps5 and ps5 pro to get an idea of the actual performance leap in ray traced games between the two consoles

MikeyLove

DF Tradition means that Crysis 3 is a must. Alex’s favourite Jedi survivor might be interesting to see if it helps improve any stutters. Alan Wake 2 or control for ray tracing ?

Phil Ahir-Sharp

How do the non-pro patched games run? Any noticeable boosts to unlocked games?

Taggen86

How close is it actually to a RTX 4070 in a like for like comparison?

goregutz

Assassin's creed unity

Real Frame Collector

Maybe some latency comparisons between titles running on PS5 and PS5 pro titles running with PSSR enabled. While not strictly Hardware related, I'd be curious to see if there is an effect on performance on PS5 titles with CPU bottlenecking like late game Baldur's Gate 3. Logic would dictate there shouldn't be but still curious. Interestingly the PS5 pro box seems to have ditched the 8K claim made by the base console. Are there any HW changes here on the Pro to explain this apparent Downgrade or is it an admission that the original claim was perhaps a tad dubious.

Taggen86

Do we get any better performance in cpu limited games?

I would be curious to know if there's a change in Input Latency. For that, just take any game that has more input latency than the PC version, like Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 1 or Tekken 7/8. Or even Lumines Resmastered - turns out I tested that one and the variance of latency across PC/PS5/Switch is enormous - but I don't own the Xbox version. Black Myth Wukong could be a great benchmark too as the PS5 version has a lot of latency in one of its graphic mode if I remember correctly your review.

DezzyD

Thanks for your hard work guys, please treat yourself to a long break once this review period is over.

trayracer

Ooh this is a good one.

Woody Chang

NUTS.WAD Since the CPU got an upgrade, let's see how much better it handles this than the OG PS5

Diecou

Anything PSVR that gets improved just by using it on PS5 Pro without any updates

Salman

I'm too poor to buy a PS5 Pro, but would like to see my favorite obscure indie title tested, "Elden Ring" After that, "Alan Wake 2", "Dead Space", and if you can score a copy of the indie "GTA6" that would be cool but it's ok if you can't Crusader Kings 3 is tough on the CPU, so that could be a funny experiment (put the game in auto simulation mode, speed up time for an hour or two, then compare baseline and ps5 pro, look at FPS and the date to see how far ahead the pro made it)

JGizzle

Mostly want to see if games that had performance modes which didn't quite hit the mark can now get there consistently e.g. Final Fantasy XVI. Also does dynamic resolution consistently hit higher numbers in games that have it without compromising on anything else?

Soundwave GI

VRR window…most likely still 48 at the low end, but maybe a surprise? Performance of PS5 Elden Ring and any games not pro patched that benefit from the pros extras.

Nolasco

Would love to see Dragon's Dogma 2 and in the future the upcoming Kingdom come Deliverance 2.......maybe the first Kingdom Come also? Thank you for your hard work.

trayracer

- Any game with a previously low input resolution FSR performance mode. - Elden Ring, any or all 3 modes. - Any unlocked/VRR GPU limited fidelity mode. - ULTRA BOOST MODE.

Austin Warren

I would love to know what “Enhanced Image Quality” means for PS4 games.

gartenriese

I want to see all the new ray tracing that's now possible on the Pro. What's the best looking game on the Pro?

UncleJyro

Curious about PSVR2 improvements, specifically Resident Evil Village.

UncleJyro

From what I've heard the bottom panels fit but the top panels have different layouts for the hooks. Lame if true :(

UncleJyro

I'm not sure why HDR would have any changes?

NikeOne1

Generally speaking, games that have an unlocked frame rate or a wide DRS window (IIRC Immortals of Aveum and maybe Forspoken?). Once patched, the Space Marine 2 and Helldivers 2 performance modes. Maybe even the latest COD/Warzone, since that seems to scale well?

LittleMac

Horizon Zero Dawn remastered

DaJaCo (Dan)

Yeah, I've seen the same reports but I'm curious as to whether there is a good reason for it (i.e. major components in the way, or ventilation differences) - or whether it has been done by choice.. and if so.. why?

Yeshy

Did Spiderman 2 have an unlocked VRR mode?

Macky Dee

Definitely the Monster Hunter beta!

Eric Benoit

Knack 1+2 would be great, cyberpunk 2077 as well

Ross Wilson

Would love to see how close Uncharted Collection can get to 120fps in its unlocked 1440p mode.

Dani Ádám

Im most interested in these games: Jedi Survivor, Lords of the Fallen, Alan Wake 2, Baldur's Gate III, Spider-Man 2, Avatar, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, The Crew: Motorfest, Demon's Souls, Lies of P, The Callisto Protocol, Nobody Wants to Die, Wukong, Crysis Remastered Trilogy - mainly the first one -. And overall PSVR2 improvements.

Thomas Krall

Silent Hill The Short Message stutters a lot on „PS5 Amateur“. Can the Boost Mode on Pro fix it?

MittenFacedLass

Personally hoping Returnal will finally hit 60 in rough areas! Kinda hoping they'll roll a PS5 Pro patch though and maybe fix VRR Support on it while they're at it.

Athanasius19

Elden ring! How about resident evil 2 and 3 ray tracing modes on the ps5 versions? Also, all of those first party games that have unlocked modes to see how they run basically just using boost mode and not the new pro modes.

Bulbous_Bow

How does it compare to an RTX 4090 on Overcooked! All You Can Eat?

MittenFacedLass

Could have slight improvements if it does have full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 support. Proper 4:4:4 output even in 4k 120 HDR. Not a huge thing, but would be a pleasant bonus.

Dennis Löfgren

One of my friends really wants to know if Gran Turismo has any improvements in VR.

Helvetica Bold

DF gents, is there any noticeable improvement to audio, even if it’s a passing observation? Apparently the ACV runs at a higher clock speed. Forgiven me if that’s the most boring question here fellas.

Never Ready Eddie

Can you get any unlocked games to hit 120 FPS? Hopefully before their Pro enhancements bring the frame rate back down again with better quality settings.

UncleJyro

they aren't even pretending that they care about the PSVR2.😔

well, astro bot is unquestionably the best ps5 game, but boy did that IQ dip when the particle effects got crazy. how does ps5 pro handle those moments?

Oliver

As I didn't see any precise improvements mentioned for PSVR2, besides a very unspecific "there will be some", I'd really like to know about that. Especially GT7 in VR mode

Engin Cetin

Resident evil 4 and DA Veilguard

MGsubbie

Can you do a slight teardown and see if there's 2GB of LPDDR5 on the motherboard like you guys and I expected?

MGsubbie

FFXVI and Dragon's Dogma 2 performance, especially in the 60fps modes.

Stiggles

Boost mode allegedly will do something for old games but we have no details… I’d just rather be let down sooner than later.

Noah Sanchez

I would love to see Resident Evil 4, Horizon Remastered, Star Wars Outlaws, Immortals of Aveum, and Silent Hill 2, Control, and Alan Wake 2 to see how they compare to base PS5 and PC with raytracing and performance now. Also as some other commentors mentioned, it would be very cool to see how much faster and less latency WiFi 7 has on it vs the previous gen. Thanks for all the hard work!

Paul Trainor

Whats that doom level with about a million enemies all standing in a big clump?

Jarno

I'm curious as to what Epic opted to do with Fortnite. Seeing as it's maybe 'the' flagship Unreal Engine 5 title, were they able to make HW raytracing work with the Pro? Are they able run Nanite and Lumen in the game's HFR mode? Did they drop TSR in favor of PSSR? And if so, how do the two compare? Or are the enhancements perhaps limited to a more pedestrian resolution bump, despite the Pro label?

sero

Hey team, a few questions: • I would be super curious about the fan noise situation, given how much of a jet engine the PS4 pro was • Is the disk drive (once attached) just as noisy as the regular PS5's? • Does the Pro support DACs with UAC 2.0 drivers? This was a pain point for audiophiles with the PS5 as USB audio was limited to UAC 1.0, meaning that only a select number of DACs were supported • Does the Pro fit into standard size IKEA TV bench? • Anything related to PSVR2 improvements for titles like GT7, as info on that is very sparse? • How far can you throw the PS5 Pro compared to a regular PS5? Do the fins actually make it more aerodynamic?

Timothy Spink

Would love to see if there are any improvements to PSVR2 games.

Napoleon Blownapart

Can’t think of hardware questions. But here are a few games I’m interested in seeing! •Avatar: FoP (boost mode) •Star Wars Outlaws •Immortals of Aveum •The “Fidelity Pro” options for the Insomniac games. They mention that they can be toggled individually. I’d be interested to see if it can sustain a locked 40 with the new RT features.

Mugfuddler

Do we know exactly how PSSR works on a hardware level? Is there a dedicated ML block in the GPU that isn’t on any current AMD GPU that’s accelerating it or is this more like XeSS dp4a where they have certain extensions in the Compute Units that accelerate PSSR?

Jiruuino

BMW, Elden Ring and MHW beta please :)

Conner Patzman

If I remember correctly the resolution of Remnant 2 was described as being “720p-ville”. I would love to see if the professional can fix issues with UE5 titles made by small teams.

Are there any Pro specific system settings that users should be aware of to get the most out of the console relative to their home media setup?

Vijay Kher

EA Sports College Football 25 is both the best selling game of the year and the highest selling (American) football game of all time. However, I haven’t seen it reported ANYwhere that ALL footage other than live gameplay (such as intros, instant replays, and cutscenes) run at 30fps on the PS5 and a surprising 60fps on the Xbox Series X. After witnessing the difference one could call it “transformative”. So does the PS5 Pro finally bring the game up to spec with the Series X if patched?

AfreemTheDream

I would love to know if the latency between the PS5 Professional and the DualSense is improved at all. Also: is there any benefit with the PlayStation Portal?

DyeHardX86

I only want to know what the die looks like and what architecture it's using from Rdna. Chip size metrics and heat sink specifications and performance noise levels and fan changes if any, whether or not the RAM chips and configuration have changed and if the USB ports have as well. Yeah that'll do, for now....

Kryptonic

They ditched the 8K advertising on the box with the PS5 slim, not just the pro.

Kaveh Ghorbati

I'd like to see if any games that struggled to maintain 30fps fare any better on the PS5 Pro

Jerome

Yes, trying to quantify pure RT architectural improvment without the benefit of additionnal compute units. Could give a hint on what to expect from RDNA4.

Bryan

Any chance to try out PS remote play and see any improvement being done on the encoder engine? Given PS Portal been selling during PS pro design phase surely some improvement had been added to make the experience better right?

Keith Lau

Elden Ring, Bloodborne. Non-Pro enchanted games in general. We know what to expect for Pro enchanted titles already. The mystery is Game Boost now.

Games-wise a few had some performance issues on the base console to varying extents I believe: FF16, Baldur's Gate 3, Dragon's Dogma 2, Elden Ring, Black Myth Wukong, Ghostwire, etc. It would be interesting to hear how the Pro model handles some of those off the bat. Games that already run well are less interesting. And then for features/hardware, are there any changes?: VRR, hdmi bandwidth, hdr, ssd speed, clock speeds, etc

Mihail Atanasov

Hi DF team, i would love to see some PS4 games tests. Is there any framerate boost on any PS4 games? Thanks !

DarkRod99

Personally, what improvements can we see in: - Star Wars: Jedi Survivor - Dragon Dogma 2 - Final Fantasy: Rebirth - Silent Hill 2 Remake - Spiderman 2 - Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 - Baldur Gate 3 - Rise of the Ronin - Methaphor: Refantazio - Alan Wake 2

Curious if there's any latency and/or image quality improvements for remote streaming to PS Portal/Chiaki.

Ildar Nurislamov

GT7 in PSVR2 mode. The car interior details look sharp and impressive. However, cars in front appear blurry, and there’s noticeable reprojection when looking through the side windows. I know the developers haven’t made any specific promises about these issues. But maybe something got better automatically or devs might improve something without telling yet.

Loads of great (and new) IPs are switching to UE5 - how does PS5 pro work with UE5 compared to PS5?

Real Frame Collector

Ah yes I was thinking it was mentioned somewhere in the past, that's fair.

Real Frame Collector

I suspect the only titles where you'd see improvements are those with PS4 pro versions with unlocked frame rate modes and DR windows. Hope to be wrong but can't see how PS5 pro could overcome limitations within a game's code.

VeryProfessionalDodo

What a strange combo to question :D I can answer that for you, it’s going to be worse than a 4090 in every capacity, and it’s probably going to run with the same caps as PS5. In PC, if you’re running it uncapped you’re going to get higher res, higher frame rates or both

Bulbous_Bow

Hmm good point. How about a good old fashioned head to head: Empire Of The Ants PS5 Pro vs Xbox One vs Switch?

Damokalesa

Hi DF! I’m really curious to see the difference with The Crew Motorfest base version on PS5… Anyhow, thank you gents

Ben W

Immortals of Aveum with frame gen. I want to see if we can achieve locked 120. Monster Hunter Wilds beta before it goes away Black Ops 6 120hz mode dynamic resolution increase. I assume that has an interesting DRS range?

Never Ready Eddie

Lots of comments including another one from me about 120 FPS. Let's be honest given PS5 has always been able to do 120 Hz, there's a real lack of 120 FPS options in games. A PC gamer wouldn't buy 144 Hz monitor and play games at 30 and 60 FPS would they? You'd be able to see almost CRT level clarity too if you tested any 120 FPS games on an LG CX or LG C1 with their 120 Hz BFI only they can do.

DeanUtube

Callisto Protocol, the Finals, Dead Rising DR, RE 4. Callisto is a confirmed pro enhancement BTW

Mr_Weis

Hey guys, I would like to see which GPU’s come close to the performance of the PS5 pro. Thnx!

Joel Fragomeni

Dynamic resolution on games that use it. Ghost of Tsushima, Far Cry 6, recent Call of Duty titles, Demon's Souls

Microsoft/Mojang just released a native PS5 version of Minecraft. Is PS5 Pro the best console to play the game now?

The sequence right after the tutorial mission on Hogwarts Legacy where there’s an establishing shot of the castle and the title comes up. This stutters pretty badly on my PC, I’m curious how the PS5 Pro’s modes handle it.

Aaron

Mechwarrior 5 Clans

Eric Benoit

Could you put a PS3 disc in?

Hitchenson

I think a good title for a Pro performance boost comparison that's going to get overlooked in most testing is Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition.

Joshua Turner

Forspoken feels like an excellent test subject. Also, if you can, the Monster Hunter Wilds beta. While not optimized for PS5 Pro, just seeing how it would be boosted is interesting.

Daniel

no point with RDR2 as its frame rate locked via the game it’s self. PS5 standard could easy do 60hz but rockstar don’t care about giving quality of life improvements to games unless they remaster em and charge ya £60 for the privilege.

Cannonball_Jones

My interest is less in frame rate and more image quality for each of the games I mentioned. Curious if PSSR is enabled and substantial on PS5 Pro.

Michael Cericola

Power draw comparison PS5 vs PS5 Pro during gameplay

DanFordy

Would be great to see how some PS4 titles are enhanced with the special mode on the Pro. Battlefield 4 tested on a 4K display would be great to see given it was a PS4 launch title running at only 900p. I tried it recently on PS5 on my 4K TV and it looked pretty bad, very blurry, lots of jaggy lines, and shimmering everywhere.

James Harris

What are the differences in improvements to a PS4 game (via game boost) versus a PS5 game where nothing has been done on the developer’s end?

Mike Jacovou

If you could do more of a rapid fire test dump of the performance of many popular first party and third party PS4 games on the Pro vs what we've enjoyed on the back-compat of regular PS5. There are several PS4era games that I still have in my long backlog (RDR 2, Nathan Drake Collection, God of War 2018) and to get a quick spread of fps/resolution improvements for several of them (rather than a deep dive of 5 for instance) would be super interesting and beneficial!

+1 on this. Organic brute force system level improvements just purely through more power would be super interesting to see which games have their needles moved on out of the box.

Test the portal? To see if there's any noticeable improvements over the streaming and performance of remote play on it would be cool.

The system level PSSR option for PS4 games.

Would love to see Uncharted 4 120fps mode and FFXVI resolutions and frame rate in the performance mode.

Other than Dragon’s Dogma 2, I’m not sure if any of the current enhanced titles have sections that are CPU limited? If so I would be interested to know the extent to which these areas see improvements. I am assuming it would be necessary for the game to be ‘enhanced’ / patched as my understanding is that devs to actively select to make use of the extra CPU speed at the expense of the GPU

Are there any existing PS5 games (enhanced or not) that benefit from the extra memory? Specs leaked today suggest an extra 2gb could be available to games

Diablo 4 would be interesting compared the PC

Space marine 2 would be interesting as well with the ddr5 ram

Star Wars Outlaws on PS5 Pro if it uses PSSR would be an interesting comparison to FSR on the PS5

A short look at Apex legends would be nice. I was confused to see it at a very low resolution when it got its 120FPS Mode

From the actual new 2024 games, I am curious to see if there are any appreciable visual and performance improvements for Black Myth Wukong. Thinking about other items would be seeing how much of a boost to PS4 games there would be such as Bloodborne (I really would like a remake or remaster). Thank you for the time the team is spending with the PS5 Pro coverage along with all other coverage you all have done. Cheers!

Any game with unlocked framerate modes/unstable 60/120 modes such as Nioh 2, FF16, and the recently released Metaphor Refantazio. Additionally, if itd be possible to evaluate the average increase in DRS % across a variety of games such as Lords of the Fallen and any others you can think of, especially in RT off vs on scenarios to evaluate performance uplifts on the RT side such as Dragons Dogma 2.

Hey Guys. Can you tested the Ps5 Pro on a 1440p Monitor? Whats better on a pc monitor, system intern 1440p or 2160p choose? Question for me is, if a PS5 PRO Game render in nativ 1440p and upscale to 4K via PSSR, is PSSR active on a 1440p Monitor, if 1440p active in the System Menü of PS5 PRO? Is it then better ti choose 2160p on a 1440p PC Monitor, because PSSR Upscaling? Thanks a lot for your time a fantastic Coverage!!

I would be happy about some coverage of Hogwarts Legacy: 1) If they use raytraced shadows, did they fix the bugs in the PC version? (e.g. at night decals on the ground outside the Great Hall, lighting of one window in the Quad Courtyard). Those are two cases where deactivating raytraced shadows on PC actually give a better (I guess baked) result. 2) Do they do anything better for Ambient Occlusion than on PC there? 3) Comparison of the different denoisers with raytraced reflections.

I'm curious whether the HDMI port still be locked at 32Gbps.

Agreed, I'd love to see a video on SW Outlaws.

Metaphor Refantazio: I'd like to see tests for PS5 games that had performance issues. I wonder if the Pro might help those games hit their targets, even without overt Pro Enhancement.

Would be interesting to see if there is any substantial difference in performance of non-enhanced Xbox First Party Titles on the PS5 Pro compared to the Xbox Series X. Games Like; Diablo, Sea of Thieves, Call Of Duty BlackOps 6 etc. Obviously I understand that server delays and such can play a part but would still be interesting to see.

I'm super curious about the Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1. I'm wondering if the PS5 version actually has worse image quality than the PS4 version running in back compat using the PS4 Enhancement setting. It's such a weird case for a super low resolution PS5 game and I'm wondering what exactly would be going on there.

I’ve got a sealed copy of Forspoken I bought a while ago (before PS5 Pro was announced) on the off chance that we might get a mid-gen upgrade and that maybe that game might run better. Interested to see Team DF test it out.

So I might be minority opinion here, but I am not seeing all the issues PS5 Professional has in some games, to be clear I have owned all systems since SNES and recently built a 4080 with I9-14900k and 64 gb 5k series RAM. With that said DA V. issues or these COD6 problem's, I play on all platforms xsx, ps5 now ps5 pro, and high end PC. I have my gaming cockpit set like this , LG C4 42 inch OLED on monitor arm with pivot/tilt/swivel, it sits 6-8 inches from face and I use steel series with game dac headset in a lazy boy recliner. I get the shimmering and temporal instability of some of the patches like sh2, and low res of aw2, but my analysis, is that PS5 pro, scales a projection Like image change ,it does not, look resoundingly bad , just different. PSSR is still in its dumb AI phase (I work in IT and with AI for a large company) I get temporal instability, jitter, liaising and shimmer , but don’t see issues with DA V and I started on PS5 base, then played on Pc, until I got my Pro. It just looks different, unique for an upscaler, more zoomed to my eye, everyone’s not going to like change ,it’s a rule of life. Can you all do a full PS5 vs ps5 pro lineup side by side long form vid on say 5 games , just reuse footage/ and b roll, from first review and cut/edit in post. Lotf, DA V, COD6, and two others that will generate buzz and high amount of YouTube views benefiting your financial and strategic goals , while informing the masses with your
