This one's due later today but all Supporters can watch now. UPDATE: Since we posted this, we've updated the video to correct an error and inform the audience about a new upscaling option coming next week.

Shin'en Multimedia is a small but highly talented developer with a reputation for delivering astonishing custom technology. After Fast Racing Neo on Wii U and Fast RMX on Switch, Fast Fusion represents a full-blooded sequel that pushes the T239 processor hard - and in the case of DLSS, perhaps too hard. After this video was completed, Shin'en told us that a "pure" mode that doesn't use upscaling will be made available in an upcoming patch.

You could tell this was a “John” video from the opening moments…been holding off to buy the game until this review came out. Excited to check this out!

I could easily see the upscaling issues when you first rise up out of the track at the start of each race. The part that opens and closes looks super low res and blocky, and around the edges of the ship upscaling artifacts are obvious. Now I'll watch the video where I'm sure you'll point out even more stuff and upscaling fails. It's a good game with great visuals, but use of upscaling is too much IMO

Talking about FAST Racing Neo being overlooked, I think the original FAST Racing League on WiiWare was even more so. What are the chances of a DF Retro on that to complete the set when everything calms down? 😁

How do we know it's actually upscaling from 648p to 4K using DLSS? Wouldn't it be more likely to upscale with DLSS to an intermediate resolution (say 1440p) and then use a naive upscaler to get to 4K output? as 648p to 4K is like a 12x scaling factor (which we don't even see being done on PC DLSS AFAIK).

To clarify, we've been speaking to Shin'en so that's how we know the details and I think what you are suggesting is happening already - different modes scale to 1080p, 1440p and 4K respectively using DLSS, with basic scaling to 4K when needed.
