Week 26 eh? The halfway point of the year of our lord, 2025. And as you've probably discovered by looking at the channel just now, we've just posted a 35 minute tech review of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, available to download in 4K 60 HDR on digitalfoundry.net. John put a great deal of effort into getting this one ready for embargo on top of his prior commitments and we really hope you enjoy it! I certainly did - it speaks to the kind of undiminished passion in the team that defines what we do as more of a vocation than just a job. Years on, we're still excited about talking about genuinely great gaming technology.

But moving on to the future - more specifically, this week - here's what we have planned for you here at Digital Foundry.

John is looking to take a look at Nightdive's System Shock 2 and will be joining Oliver for a look at enhanced (ie properly upgraded) Switch 1 games running on Switch 2. Further on down the line, he wants to take point on our Donkey Kong Bananza review.

Alex is completing a retrospective look at Doom, starting from the shareware original all the way up to the latest path-traced rendition of The Dark Ages. This one is a sponsored video, but rest assured, it's a fully independent production and we think you'll get a kick of out it. After that? Vacation for the lucky chap!

Tom is well into production work on our Street Fighter 6 Switch 2 review and wants to move on to the Switch 2 GameCube emulated titles after that - though we're open to any suggestions on Switch 2. Yes, we are aware that the Legend of Zelda beckons!

Speaking of which, Oliver powers into this week looking into properly enhanced Switch 1 games running on Switch 2. He's also planning to cover Hogwarts Legacy which is certainly an intriguing port. Is it another title using what must surely be a 'lightweight' DLSS? We reckon so.

Rich (ie me) has limited availability this week due to family commitments, but Switch 2 vs Steam Deck in Cyberpunk 2077 has already had a good deal of prep work done - and we now have closest equivalent PC settings for the Switch 2 version. Also expect to see CDPR's internal benchmarks running on just on S2 and Deck, but PS4 and PS4 Pro too... and Illusion has also unlocked the frame-rate there...

Will continues to power on behind the scenes, having just delivered the article form of the Death Stranding 2 review. There'll be plenty of hardware guide updates and other DF-on-EG stuff happening behind the scenes.

As usual, do let us know what you'd like to see on the channel but suffice it to say, while last year was a bit of a content desert out there this time of the year, right now we're rammed with work. And we've got Gamescom to plan out too.

Thanks - as ever - for your support and I hope you have a fantastic week!

I'm excited for that Switch 2 VS Steam Deck CP2077 video. CP2077 is both GPU heavy and CPU heavy. SD has a more powerful CPU and faster storage while S2 has a more powerful GPU. Will be interesting to see how the 2 systems compromise. Would also be really cool to dedicate a small section of the video showing the Switch 2 settings running on ROG Ally or Ally X.

Would love to see some follow-up coverage of the Fast Fusion “PURE” update after it lands later this week (26th June 25) to see if image quality is improved.

It’s good that you’re looking at the properly enhanced switch 1 games on switch 2. But I think looking at the games that had unlocked framerates and dynamic resolutions is a bit more interesting. I’ve already tried out a bunch and could help.

Maybe they could cover it in the direct this week?

In the Steam Deck vs Switch 2 comparison running CP2077, are you also going to compare power consumption? There’s a lot of misinformation out there, with people saying SD only uses a maximum of 15 watts, when that’s just the SoC alone lol
