I must be caught in a stasis field, I'm pretty sure this should read episode 225. :P

I’ve played a lot of games on various handhelds in the last couple of years - now being in my 40’s with kids playing on the TV is a luxury. And basically any game like outlaws needs a lot of compromise to run on these things. I have it on PC and play it on the ROG Ally at 720p with FSR and frame gen. It’s a compromised experience but I found it fantastic to play a game like that handheld even with essentially the downgrades. I could play it on my consoles but again life intervenes. So I think you guys are being a bit harsh on these ports. They won’t be very good we already know that. But it’s a handheld. It offers variety for people and lets them play these games in places they couldn’t before. It’s important people realise the switch 2 is basically a dockable steam deck with similar handheld power and slightly more when docked. We should be encouraging these ports on switch 2 to give people the options.

The switch bottleneck imo is handheld clock speeds and memory bandwidth. So improving those I think is quite likely but as Oliver says it will depend on impact on battery life. I don’t think it needs a lot in docked mode beyond as noted VRR being implemented. Docked mode feels close enough to series s to get some ok ports but handheld is basically a steam deck with slower RAM so if they could improve those a little they are probably in a better place. I note third party devs have said that handheld is more difficult than docked mode….which makes sense.

if they dont subsidize their consoles,. no one will buy it guys... just saying.

at least no one will bills and kids, they make the next xbox 700+, theyre done

If they are allowing third party stores on or it’s open like a PC/console hybrid meaning people can install other launchers and access other stores then what business sense is there in subsidising it? Subsidising hardware was primarily to push people into your store to get a cut of third party sales. Exclusives acted in effect as loss leaders to prompt people to buy your subsidised hardware. But if Xbox is basically saying they are making hardware like PC just to try and keep those with Xbox consoles on gamepass then it’s hard to justify subsidising that if sales will effectively be pushed to steam or elsewhere. I don’t really think it’s made financial sense for them to subsidise their hardware now for a long time. They spent over a billion supposedly to subsidise the series consoles and to what end?

I appreciated John's comments about the Switch 2 software rollout. It sucks that Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden are releasing two months after the Switch 2 launch without Switch 2 editions or patches. That this might be caused by Nintendo themselves is doubly annoying. Beyond that, the stuff with game key cards also sucks. The complexity and mixed motivations the key cards introduce are adding to a growing decision paralysis. I am having to ask myself too many questions as I consider buying software on my Switch 2. Has this game received a Switch 2 patch? Will it ever receive a patch? Am I okay with playing the game sans patch? (Also, will the Switch 2 patch negatively affect the game, like with Shadow Labyrinth?) It’s a mess that makes me wonder why I'm stupid enough to buy multi-platform games on Switch 2. I have a Steam Deck. What's wrong with me? What's wrong with Nintendo? ...I guess it has only been two months.
