Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 33, 2025) (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone, thank you once again for the incredible response to our decision to secure Digital Foundry's future by buying out IGN and taking control of our own destiny. It's a little scary but also immensely liberating! We're continuing to work through the transition phase, handling things like payroll and pensions, and figuring out the accounts up to and including the close of the deal and making sure the money is in place to pay staff and freelancers. All of this should be sorted this week before we move onto Gamescom - exciting stuff, as we can engage with the games business in a new way, as full owners of the business.
These weekly updates are more about the #content though!
This week, Alex is away on vacation and we have a couple of additional challenges on top of being a man down: some embargoed content we have to tackle now which you won't see for a while, and also looking after the schedule next week when John, Alex and Rich (ie me) will be at Gamescom. We'll figure our way through that, but in the meantime, here's what's cooking
Tom is looking at Hellblade 2 Enhanced. We actually went down to visit Ninja Theory to see the new version of the games in action and to get the lowdown on the technical improvements that have made 60fps possible - and to get to grips with PS5 Pro. I was also pretty impressed to see some pretty profound Steam Deck improvements. Beyond that, he's working on embargoed #content.
John is working on... you guessed it... embargoed #content. This is the project you'll see later in the month, but we've got some excellent developer support on this one and I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out.
Oliver is going to be tackling our first look at the Battlefield 6 beta, then moves on directly to Maaafia: The Old Country. We received a PC code from 2K, but nothing else, so we'll be buying that one ourselves. I know we keep talking about it every week, but we are still strongly interested in No Man's Sky on Switch 2 especially as the handheld stutter issues have indeed been improved.
Rich (ie me) is itching to get on with analysis and testing of AMD's Strix Halo APU, particularly with the news that it's destined for handhelds... somehow. However, you'll understand that my life has got somewhat complex in the last couple of weeks!
Lots more to come. I will be making public posts on Patreon when we hit our various targets - but in the meantime - as always - please do let us know what kind of topics you'd like to see covered on the channel. Thanks, now more than ever, for supporting Digital Foundry - it's fantastic to have you along for the journey!
