Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 36, 2025) (Patreon)
Content
Hello there and a warm welcome to the 36th post I've written this year that outlines what we have cooking for this week. The big key art at the top of this post indicates that Star Wars Outlaws is going to figure into the situation somehow - and that's because it's coming to Switch 2 and we're currently trying to get hold of review code. Ray tracing on Switch 2 and we're here for it. Here are some of the other irons we have in the fire:
John is eagerly awaiting some #EmbargoedMaterial but in the meantime, he's going to be doing a short DF Retro video on a remarkable Game Boy Color port of OutRun! Also, circling back to some Gamescom 2025 stuff, he's also doing a short video on Phantom Blade Zero, which we played in PC form during an Nvidia press event.
Oliver is coming to the end of his Helldivers 2 analysis for Xbox consoles. Spicing this one up somewhat is that the console versions now have access to internal performance metrics - really exhaustive levels of data. Following that, he's onto Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2. While we wait for code, he can grab some Series S comparison shots.
Tom is finishing up his review of Kirby and the Forgotten Land but then moves on - and it's likely to be the console versions of Bloober's Cronos in his crosshairs.
Alex will be looking at the PC version of Cronos - but at some point we need to get to grips with all the footage we have of Black State on PC, which looks absolutely terrific.
Rich (ie me) has obviously had hands full with the transition from being part-owned by IGN to being fully independent. Today, we're unlinking the main DF YT channel from IGN then crossing our fingers that the transition across to our own Google AdSense account will happen as quickly as it did for DF Clips last week. Content though? Back to Strix Halo!
A quick update on digitalfoundry.net. As of right now, all staff access to the CMS has been taken offline, meaning no new videos posted on there, but we are in control of the CDN itself, we can upload new videos and we are able to generate links to new videos on Patreon - as you've seen over the last week.
Downloadable videos will continue, the links will just be on Patreon instead.
We will be spending some time figuring out how to move the 2016-2023 archives to The Internet Archive, available to all. Our current thinking is to keep the last two years of videos and DF Retro in its entirety on the CDN and then every year update the Internet Archive, or to simply Torrent the archive. There is no real need for anyone to be soaking the CDN for every single video we've ever made - the content will be back in due course and of course, we won't be deleting the data. Not least because we need it ourselves!
And here's where I ask for your inputs on what games you think we should cover. Please bear in mind that there are a lot of new games all coming at once, so we have to prioritise. In the case of console releases, we have just two people and for PC there is only one Alex! Even so, curious to hear your feedback.
