In the latest DF Direct, we finally get some idea of Switch 2's ray tracing capabilities via Star Wars Outlaws - and the team likes what they see. Meanwhile, details emerge of just how much slower Switch 2 carts are compared to internal storage and MicroSD Express - and it's a touch concerning. A reported storage downgrade for PlayStation 5 isn't exactly great news, and neither is the final death of Perfect Dark - but 007 First Night and Hollow Knight: Silksong have much to commend them.

John, $10 may not be much of a savings individually, but selling 10 million consoles would be a savings of $100 million which is pretty preeeeetty good

Also John, the colour of the Jag was called "British Racing Green". And the gameplay from the State of Play as noted at the bottom during the first few seconds was running on a base PS5, not the Pro.

Why is Oliver looking at me like that!

Brrrrgrrrr

But then the same video on IOi YouTube page said it was ps5 pro!

If you look left to right it tells a pretty interesting story. Alex sees something and is confuses. John sees it and is delighted. Oliver sees it and desires it. Rich sees it and is concerned. Maybe they saw a future where 8gb V-ram is solidified as gaming standards?

That's so weird, I know PlayStation just hired a new person to put together these state of plays, so I can only assume they put the wrong label at the bottom by accident

Surely a lot of the work done on that Perfect Dark canceled game will be used for something else. 3D assets, rigs, animations, scripts, writing even. Some may have to be tweaked and adjusted for whatever project it ends up at, but I really doubt they would just throw it all in the trash bin.

It's interesting how John mentioned the concept of a game like Star Wars Outlaws being on cartridge, but the game can be installed to the faster internal memory. When you think about it, this is just the same as what the other consoles have been doing since the PS4 and Xbox One - the discs are no longer fast enough as storage devices, so the game must be installed onto the internal drive in order to play it.

Let me know if you all need help with shorts. I’ve been professionally editing social videos for a long time.

I was also confused, but apparently, the gameplay video shown at State of Play was indeed captured on a base PS5 according to Luke Stephens on YouTube, who attended a media event at IOI offices, was shown the same gameplay, and asked them specifically about that.

BespokeEP

I understand that the game is still in development and that the footage is likely at least a few months old but if that was actually the pro, I don't want to even imagine what it will look and run like on SeriesS and Switch 2
