I wonder if Half-Life 3 will be VR.

I cancelled YouTube Premium this month and trying to consume DF mainly by downloads, so it's a bit annoying that things go live on YT before the downloads are ready. But I do understand it given uploads take time and YT has the big audience. I wonder if it's possible to configure ad-free Youtube videos for supporters somehow? I think the embed is usually ad free but would like to watch outside a browser. Also hoping the website will have an option to embed or link to the downloads rather than YT at some point.

Does the living room box, plus the new VR setup, signal that a HL3 announcement might be imminent?

I'm sorry but we have no control whatsoever over the YT platform. High quality video takes time to encode - particularly long 4K videos like this one - and when battling embargoes, we have to prioritise YouTube.

The HEVC link for me links a to a file at least named the same as the Steam Machine review. Was there maybe a mix-up?

According to the leaks, Half-Life 3 is happening. According to Valve, they are not working on any VR games... so probably not.
