Bloober Team's Layers of Fear has reached Nintendo Switch 2 - and with it, an interesting surprise. To the best of our knowledge, it's the first Switch 2 title running on Unreal Engine 5 using the computationally taxing Lumen global illumination system, the software-driven ray tracing solution developed by Epic. What's more, the game is targeting 60 frames per second. Oliver and Alex compare notes - what new information have we learned about UE5 on Switch 2?

A shame they didn't include a 30fps mode with boosted graphical settings. For example, PS5 version has a 30fps mode that features hardware Lumen. And while I don't expect hardware Lumen to be possible on Switch 2 at 30fps, I feel it's a missed opportunity to just limit the Switch 2 version to just one option.

Thanks Oliver. Merry Christmas, great beginning!!!

Not sure the game was worth the work they did let alone another mode to optimise for.
