In theory, it shouldn't be this hard - but somehow it is. Rich here, and John and I have been replaying the dire PC port of Batman Arkham Knight in attempt to get a locked 4K60 experience. The game is worth it - in fact, as you shall see, it looks incredible. But getting that 60 lock wasn't easy.

This is also a case where having access to digitalfoundry.net's digital downloads proves invaluable. The game is super-rich in intricate detail that YouTube can't hope to realise in its limited bandwidth budgets. You're just not getting the - dare I say it - 'full fat experience'. The 20 minute edit I put together is an 8.13GB download, and that's using the HEVC codec (!). Insane stuff, but it's worth downloading and checking out on your 4K TV. It just looks immense.

The video isn't actually running on max settings though! We did some minor nips and tucks on shadows and disabled GameWorks. However, RTX 2080 Ti can still pull off 4K60 with all settings enabled - with the exception of the PhysX smoke, which is disastrously harsh on performance. So as a small bonus, I did some capture of that too, with Riva Tuner stats enabled so you can see just how under-utilised the system is at any given point. And yet somehow, we do need that power to stay at 60...

Anyway, you can grab the downloads here: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/browse/batman-arkham-knight

Cheers!
