If you're reading this message, that's because you've chosen to join us by supporting Digital Foundry at the highest level on the DF Retro Supporter Tier - and for that, we humbly thank you. Created by John Linneman, DF Retro videos are some of the most time intensive, production-heavy projects we put out there - powered mostly by the enthusiasm of the man himself. But we want to do bigger, we want to better and your support will make this happen.

Early access to prime episodes is the main benefit of this tier and that starts today with John's hour-long retrospective on id software's incredible Quake. We'll just let the content speak for itself on this one, but you won't want to miss it: http://digitalfoundry.net/2021-04-29-df-retro-quake-the-game-the-technology-the-ports-the-legacy

Joining this tier also gets you access to a bunch of extras outlined on the main page, including early access to DF Retro Plays, bonus materials and a new discussion show - Retro Corner. In the first episode, John and Bubsy champ Audi Sorlie chat about their plans for DF Retro, discuss the making of the Quake episode and enthuse about the Retrotink 5X Pro - and much more: http://digitalfoundry.net/2021-04-29-patreon-exclusive-retro-corner-1-patreon-relaunch-making-of-quake-retrotink5x-pro-turrican

This really is just the beginning for the new DF Retro and we'll be sharing more over the coming days!

So excited to see what's to come. This'll be the first patreon I plan to continuously support, DF Retro is one of my favorite internet series so I knew I immediately had to join.

Definitely some of the finest content I've seen on DF, happy to continue supporting it.

Very happy to support everyone on the DF team, and to be able to say thank you in some way for the hard work you all put in throughout the week. It truly lights up my day when there's a new post from DF.

Gladly upgraded my tier. The DF team does a great work and I really have enjoyed the more personal ans subjective touch the videos has been acquiring. A new DF video is always a day highligth and even more if it is a DF retro. Congratulations for all of your work and "Stay Retro".

An incredible channel that I watch daily - it’s about time that I supported you guys more. If it wasn’t for DF Retro, my ability as a game developer would be half of what it is now. Looking at great technology of the past gives us a greater foothold on the future. Can’t wait to see more content from you guys!

The best content on DF. Onward and upward, John and Audi!

The quake video was quite good and is exactly the kind of content I find the most interesting and entertaining. If the quality is always like this then I will be happy to contribute to its continued production. I wish you guys all the best.

I wish DF Retro newfound success!

I loved that Quake retrospective. I had 486dx2 CPU @66mhz when I first played Quake. Software rendering was slow for me but it worked. A year or two later I upgraded to a first generation Pentium board and CPU, and with that a Hercules brand Rendition Verite 1000 graphics card. I spent a lot of hours playing vQuake. At some point I ended up replacing the Rendition card with an nVidia Riva 128 paired with a 3dfx Voodoo card. I remember being disappointed with how Quake looked on the voodoo card after being accustomed to how good it looked on the Rendition card. I discovered GLQuake later. This video brought back a lot.

Loved the videos! No biggie, but a video on any light gun games would be awesome.

This was so good! Even if this was the 'farewell' episode of DF Retro, never to be continued - I feel like it would be a great end.
