Some might say that the PS5 vs Xbox Series comparisons typically aren't that interesting in the age of close multi-platform development, similarly capable machines (based on titles we've seen so far, at least) and dynamic resolution scaling. However, The Medium bucks the trend with some intriguing 'six of one, half a dozen of the other' results...

The Medium PS5: Big Changes vs Xbox Series X + PC Comparisons

The Medium was a timed console exclusive on Xbox Series consoles and now it's available on PlayStation 5. Bloober Studio has substantially tweaked the presentation, resulting in higher resolutions and performance. But there's no free lunch when it comes to rendering, so what's the catch? I'd be very interested in DF interviewing some folks from Bloober Team, they're such an interesting studio to me and a post-mortem discussing this games technology and the differences between platforms would be very cool. It's not often these days to see a game that isn't striving for absolute parity aside from resolution changes. I wonder if there's anything stopping the team from porting some of these settings changes over to Xbox in the future as well.

A great example of a developer looking at the system architecture differences (wide versus deep), and tuning the “knobs” is a way that provides the best result per platform. The worst is when developers try to match performance/settings, and then no one gets what they want. Great analysis.

Agreed. The series x should be able to pull off slightly better visuals or performance than the PS5. Developers have said that the major difference will be the Xbox version of games will run better. There's no need whatsoever to always try and make them match although sometimes the console company will literally pay a studio to make sure there is full parity and that's ridiculous.
