Coming This Week To Digital Foundry (Week 1, 2024) (Patreon)
Content
Hello there, Happy New Year and welcome to the first Digital Foundry #content breakdown of 2024. Our staff meeting happened earlier today with myself, Alex, Tom and Oliver attending. John and Will are still on vacation - good for them! John's due back later in the week and will likely be on the roster for the first DF Direct of 2024. Still, there's a lot cooking, and some videos left over from 2023 to run.
Supporters of Premium and Retro tiers will have already seen the Resident Evil 4 iPhone review, and indulged in an almighty tech chat between Alex and Remedy on Alan Wake 2's sublime visuals. We're also well stocked in the Retro content arena with John and Audi's fave Game Boy games, a look at Sonic Boom on Wii U and a look at some of Gen 7's worst retro remakes - all of that will be deploying publicly over the next few weeks.
That PS5 motherboard image above? It's a reminder to me to get my act together for the PS5 Slim review! Speaking of which, here's the #content breakdown:
* Rich (ie me) is polishing off a smaller video on getting CD Projekt RED's custom internal benchmarks working on the consoles, and I'm also now well into the long awaited PS5 'FPS Boost' video showing a vast array of PS4 titles running at 60fps on PS5. PS5 Slim videos, Lenovo Legion Go and more is in the pipeline. I'm also gearing up for the inevitable RTX 40 Series Super reviews.
* Alex is going to be taking a look at The Finals on PC, before going into more depth on FSR 3 and looking at the DLSS 3 to FSR 3 mods out there.
* Tom will be following up on Alex's PC work on The Finals with a look at how the game runs on PlayStation 5 and what's been cut from the maxed out PC experience.
* Oliver has been working on embargoed content, delivered the iPhone 15 review of Resident Evil 4 and is now working on a look at how well - or not - Unreal Engine 5 titles are running on Steam Deck. It's actually looking pretty good there!
OK, so is there anything else you'd like us to look at? Releases are thin on the ground so this is a good opportunity for us to explore 'off diary' projects - stuff we just fancy doing, like the Cyberpunk benchmarking thing I've been thinking about for many months now.
Let me know of any thoughts or ideas in the accompanying webzone beneath this post, but beyond that, a happy 2024 to you from all of the team!
