Hi everyone, owing to my utterly incomprehensible workload, this one is months late... but I hope the wait has been worth it!

Locked to older firmwares, PlayStation 5 has been hacked, opening the door to a range of 60fps mods that transform some of PlayStation 4's best games when played under backwards compatibility. Let's be clear here - these mods do not work on unexploited, retail consoles. Leading modder Illusion worked with Digital Foundry to show us how good these games look - and why Sony and third party publishers might consider an official Xbox-style FPS Boost program for PlayStation 5.

Congrats on getting this one out there, to both Rich and Illusion! This is one of those bittersweet DF videos, making me think "what if this is was actually real". As a former PC Gamer, it still pains me a bit to see the PS5 be so under-utilised in PS4 games, and this is just another reminder. I've pretty much abandoned hope that any FPS Boost solution will ever come to fruition, and looking at the PS5 sales data, Sony clearly doesn't need to do anything of the sorts

Great video Rich! It's really crazy Sony hadn't followed Microsoft to put in at least a system level Vsync change. Xbox is doing great things without even needing developer intervention. Maybe devs should start future proofing their games by offering a Vsync lock to refresh rate option in the menu. One step closer to PC but with that they could leave the door open for later console revisions
