Fun to see 'YoSaffBridge' again! Even better to see the crew get one over on her! I get the impression from quite a few reactors that they think Mal is keeping Inara 'off the job' because he has feelings for her, but I don't think that's why - it may well be a component, but not the main reason. My belief is that Mal has shied away from taking any job that might be even slightly risky since being captured by Niska last episode, hence the smuggling and staying away from the more 'civilised' (i.e. Alliance) planets. I do think that Mal was right about Saffron actually caring about their mark, and that the breakdown was 'real' (or real enough) - she's just capable and aware enough to be able to use it against Mal.

One of the things I love rewatching is when they're first getting the plan from YoSaffBridge, Kaylee is struggling to keep a straight face and not laugh (hiding her mouth behind her hand on her chin). My understanding is this was Jewel actually struggling, but was still perfectly in character (see Inara's comment about their performances) so was left in.

I like to think that if the show hadn't been cancelled, YoSaffBridge would have been back once or twice a season, each time with another name and a new husband, being a thorn in the side of the crew.
