Thank you for all of your votes in last week's "Random Sub-2h Movies" poll. The Usual Suspects won with 48% of the votes and I'm excited to watch it! This week's theme is war/military.

It's been a long time since I've watched a movie in this genre, so please pick which one I watch first! Note that I put a number of suggested war/military movies into Wheel of Names and the poll has the four that the wheel picked. Here is the full list that I put on the wheel:

This poll will be open until end of day Sunday. Happy Voting! ❤️

Ugh…wish Hacksaw Ridge would’ve made the list. All great movies but that one would’ve been my pick.

Heads up that there are three different versions of Apocalypse Now: Theatrical (147m), Redux (196m), and The Final Cut (182m). All three are equally available, but objectively I would say the only one to avoid is Redux as most people did not seem to like that version (which is probably why Coppola then changed it again).

I'm not too much of a war movie watcher, but of the ones I've seen on the poll, I will say that All Quiet was my favorite. Hopefully you get to see it eventually because it is quite a unique and powerful film of the genre.

Oof. The Pianist is an incredible film, but definitely one of those "I can only endure that once" experiences. 💔

That's pretty much all I know about it going in, that it's often compared to Schindler's List for that "one time watch" vibe. (Although I've watched SL multiple times.)

Looks like I can access both the theatrical and the final.

Honestly, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare should be on the list XD It is actually a movie based on then recently declassified files from Winston Churchill's files about an unauthorized, black-ops mission to cripple the supply chain for the Atlantic U-boat fleet. The main character is actually credited as being the inspiration for James Bond!

Never heard of it! So that's why it wouldn't be on the list. 😂

John W Foster

Man, I love the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Alan Ritchson and Henry Cavill are great

Bryan Dempsey

Never seen any of these. Looking forward to what the masses decide. It’ll be a first time for me too.

Perhaps you can also watch the 1930 original. If you wait until January 1st, 2026, it will be in the public domain.

Chris Elkins

I would thought Platoon would be higher on votes
