I think this movie made me jump more than the first one? I should have watched my own reaction prior to watching this. 😂

Such great casting. Loved following them around this time. Looking forward to your thoughts! Thanks for watching and enjoy! [Direct link here.]

PS. Glad I was able to dress up for one of these scary movies! I didn't think my outfit would end up arriving in time haha. Enjoy slightly gothic KL.

I have watched both films at least 3 times, and I still struggle to remember anything that happens in either of them. Entertaining no doubt, but super forgettable. Having just watched it again, I think there is too much CGI that doesn't look great—it sort of takes me out of the scariness the film is aiming at. Like the old lady scene was building up to something with her being all creepy in the background and that rictus smile, but then the punchline is some poorly rendered CGI monster thing... Also, the wheels on that kids skateboard are ridiculous, and his riding stance did not indicate that he would have been able to skate well enough to have inflicted that much damage to the deck—not to mention this was 2019, that kid would have been riding a Baker. Also, the word you were trying to think of when Bill was buying the bike is "haggle". (:

That’s a fun outfit. Way to embrace the season! I haven’t watched this one since it was in theaters. I’m looking forward to my rewatch and I hope it lands better alongside your reaction. Your in the moment comments always improve the experience.

Haha thanks, yes haggle!! Word was just not in my brain. Agreed on the CGI, practical would have been far more effective.

I did! I’ve only read the book one time, when I was 12 years old. It was my second Stephen King book. Being 12, roughly the same age as the characters, the moment everyone talks about didn’t quite hit as disturbing but it was unexpected and not crassly written to my young mind. I can’t say I was grasping every nuance of it either though. I do want to re-read as an adult but keep putting it off since It clocks in around 900-1,000 pages. I also remember the day I got it from the school library and I was getting my haircut. My mom thumbed through it and asked me if I was ok reading it and I said, “yes” but was I…? I enjoyed my re-watch more than my first watch. You manage to capture and distill the experience so well. The book is set in the adult’s present and we see their first summer of Pennywise through flashbacks. By splitting up the story like they did, I think they force themselves into that repetitive corner. The book has a larger role for Bill’s wife and doesn’t give us quite the same ending we get here. Stephen King is notoriously criticized for the endings of his novels, though I enjoy most of them so I must be missing something. My favorite part of the reaction was you banging your hand on the table when a jump scare got you. It was funny. Thanks for prompting me to give it another go. I liked it. It occurs to me you have a number of movie franchises you’ve started that you haven’t wrapped. If I may be so bold, I would love a poll sometime in the near future for what franchise to continue next. Off the top of my head, there is The Matrix, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Terminator, Alien, Men in Black, and Star Wars (there are 2 George Lucas produced Ewok movies out there and they are not bad. Plus you say you don’t skip stuff 😉). Anyway, just a thought.

The director of Bill's film is played by the late Peter Bogdanovich, director of What's Up, Doc?.
