I originally had a theme in mind for the poll that I was going to ask for suggestions on, but HugoBoss made a good point in that I've barely watched any sports movies. I think I've watched only one (Remember the Titans) in the almost four years I've been doing this? Shame on me, for sure. 😅

Please comment your favourite sports movies below (one movie per comment, please) and instead of having you all like each others comments (since that's a form of voting anyway), I will either place all the movies in one large multiple-choice poll, or I will toss them into Wheel of Names and draw out 4 of them for a poll.

Thanks everyone! 😊

Yes! We’re doing this! Nice…super excited. Okay for me…I don’t know that I have one single favorite sports movie but the one that I always want to watch reactions to on the YouTube is WARRIOR (2011). Phenomenal flick!

Arcee

The Replacements (Keanu Reeves, Gene Hackman)

HugoBoss435

Technically yes since boxing and mma movies count

Rocky (1976) but it’s the start of a franchise

Knight Squirrel

A League of Their Own. (1992) with Geena Davis and Tom Hanks.

If you could only pick one, which one would that be? As was the requested format of comments. ;)

Ghostwriter

Moneyball from 2011 is a good one.

I should have noted I want to leave series/franchises out of the poll, because y'all know me. 😅 I think there are plenty of stand-alone ones that are good to watch! And I do want to get to the Rocky's next year sometime.

Movies with KL

I've seen that one a long time ago, sadly! Though I'm definitely due for a rewatch, I just think that I remember enough about it that it wouldn't be an ideal reaction.

Movies with KL

Nate, you can comment more than one! Just separate comments is easier for my brain when I'm transferring to a poll haha.

Patrick

🏈We are Marshall (2006)🏈

Ann Bostic

The Mighty Ducks (1992)

Death Lego

Le Mans '66 (aka Ford VS Ferrari) (2019) Matt Damon and Christian Bale.

thanks for saying that ! Referring to any given Sunday . That speech is my favorite. Legend says he did it in one take. I wrote out the speech but changed it to refer to Patreon and votes. But then deleted it because it could be taken as a spoiler and I have no right to rob Mr Pacino of being the first to deliver that speech.

Its a stretch to call poker a sport but "Molly's Game" 2017 if that suggestion is invalid.... then I pick Concussion (2015)

Bopper

Bull Durham (1988)

Nathan Jasper

if golf is a sport then poker is

Jonathan Spahn

Clint Eastwood has a couple really good ones. I'll choose 'Trouble With the Curve' (2012) this time 👍

i adore poker but i find it hard to maintain my integrity and call it a sport. If poker is a sport then Chess is too.....slippery slope before you end up with Buckaroo as an olympic event. Sport is a competitive physical based recreation, golf is a pastime where your skill depends on physical capabilities. poker and chess rely on intellectual capabilities, perfectly encapsulated in a scene where superman plays Mr terrific and loses. He's strong enough to bench the planet but he cant beat a genius human at chess. https://youtube.com/shorts/wqmMHjz1c9Y?si=PlJ4LMSLeWlX3xrs

I'd love to visit a parallel universe where Buckaroo is an Olympic event. 😂

Chris Thom

Good one. PIB has a good reaction to that.

Tyler Foster

In a comment below she says she's looking for one-offs rather than franchises, but also that Rocky is one of her 2026 plans.

Tyler Foster

I don't think intellectual aspects enter into it because you can have sports that involve strategy. The real dividing line is that cards and chess are pretty easily defined as "games" (as in board or tabletop).

Tyler Foster

Man, I think I'm just used to channels doing Rush after FvF, because I could have sworn that KL already reacted to this.

Oh absolutely I don’t mean to imply that physical sports require intelligence. Look at American football (my favourite sport) that requires creativity, strategy, sometimes psych warfare against the other team. It’s a very intelligent sport, almost like chess. My point was while sports require physical strength and skill, they require brains aswell. But brains alone won’t be enough. Sport requires physically but it also requires intelligence, you need both. But games like poker or chess require no physical skills. They are solely intellectual contests. The presence or lack there of, of physical abilities determines for me difference between sports and games.

When I watched Games of thrones and we see how the ironborn performance coronation……….. this seas shortly after HM Queen Elizabeth II passed away. I remarked that if the UK did coronation the way the iron born do, then a lot more people would have watched. An Olympics of board games. Might be fun.

Yo! What part of “one movie per comment” didn’t you understand? It means no spamming , and we each only get to suggest one.

No, you're allowed to post multiple suggestions. She just wants each one to be an individual comment. If you scroll down to Nathan Jasper's first comment, she replied to him stating exactly this. It's also worth noting that there would be no reason to say "one movie per comment" unless you were allowed to make multiple suggestions. You would just say "one movie per person."

Eduardo Lima

Moneyball. I've never been a big sports fan. Even being Brazilian, I never really cared much for soccer, for example, haha. Now imagine a Brazilian caring about baseball, right? (like, nah, we're fine, thanks). But even so, I watched this movie (in the words of Captain Holt from B99: "A man uses statistics and logic to win several baseball games. It's my favorite film.") and I had zero expectations for it. And it was GREAT. Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt were very good, especially Jonah. So, if even a guy like me, who doesn't like sports, enjoyed Moneyball, then you know it's a really great movie.

Eduardo Lima

The only other one I'd say besides Moneyball, it's "Surf's Up'. Not only a sports movie, but a great and underrated animation. It's one my favorites from Shia Labeouf, it's full of heart and funny at the same time, and it has a surprising and interesting style of animation.

No Aldo, you can suggest as many as you want, just keep them to one movie per comment so it's easier for me to read!

Mike A

Have you not seen A League of Their Own? I don't see in on your Letterboxd, but it's seems like a movie you would have seen. Definitely add that to the list!

Mike A

The Replacements is an underrated movie about American football, starring Keanu at his most charming. (Cassie from PIB calls it one of her favorite movies.)

Mike A

Bend it Like Beckham! Fantastic movie that I think you'd really enjoy.
