Concluding the Millennium trilogy! If you missed watching the first two with me, you can find them in this Collection. Thank you again to Nate Jasper for requesting this and the first two on Reactr.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts! I will definitely have to read the books someday. Have a good one and thanks for watching! 😊

Stieg wrote the manuscripts for his Millennium Trilogy and died not long after turning them into his publisher. But two authors have picked up the mantle and continued the series. I actually got the newest entry for Christmas :) I can appreciate and agree with you on several of your points. I've also seen this movie described as a recap of the first two but I didn't really feel that at all. The recap was what the first 5 minutes? lol not sure what that critic had up his keester but everyone sees things through their own limited perspective. So glad you watched this trilogy. It's been an absolute joy sharing these with you! I did a trilogy rewatch today, hence why I'm commenting so late to your post, and it was a rewarding experience seeing them all back to back. Little bit of trivia to go along with this film: Noomi trained for 6 months (before filming the trilogy) learning boxing techniques to make her body look more masculine/androgynous in appearance to show that Lisbeth's never been comfortable in her own skin. Dr Anders Jonasson was originally named Anders Jakobsson after a real doctor that author Stieg Larsson knew. They were so close in fact that when Stieg died, Anders learned of Stieg's partner Eva being cut out of the literary estate and confronted Stieg's father and brother about it. The surviving Larssons decided to be petty asswipes and changed Anders' name in the book as a way of cutting him out too. And lastly, this film holds the (world?) record of shortest gap between film sequels, released only two months after Played with Fire. To get an even firmer grasp on the trilogy's elements, I highly recommend The Psychology of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's fascinating getting inside Lisbeth's mind and really contemplating her situation. It helps put you in her shoes and examine her life in incredible detail. Thanks again, looking forward to the next request, which may be a while as I still haven't gotten a call back from my job yet :(

Oh, this movie was definitely not a recap to me. That's precisely why I paused for a bit near the start to quickly open the Wiki for the second movie and re-read the plot over. 😂 Okay, more books, different authors. Sounds good! I'll definitely check out that psychology book you've recommended too! Appreciate it!

I recommended it through Throne as well, though if it's something you'd rather find for yourself, I get that too! I'm pretty sure they have it on kindle or paperback either one. If you'd like the titles for the continuing books, I can list them for you

I find it kind of interesting that the actors playing Bjurman and Teleborian looked almost identical, and considering the types of "men" they were portraying, I wonder if that was an intentional choice in casting.

Bummer he never got to see what a success his work became. Was Stieg very famous before this series?

Nathan Jasper

he was an investigative journalist, made a lot of enemies. I personally believe his death wasn't a heart attack like they say. I think they were trying to stop him from publishing those books

In case no one has mentioned this yet; They were meant for TV, in 9 x 1 hour episodes, plus I feel the movies, especially Part 3, got butchered in the editing. I'm surprised anyone knew what was going on half the time, plus there's the annoying inserts (just-for-the-movie scenes) everywhere, which are all sub-par and just exposition, because they couldn't shorten the movie to 2 hours any other way I guess. Watching the full 9 hour thing is so much better, plus it has way cooler (animated) intros for each episode. If you know how to use Tor Browser and a VPN, I'd be happy to connect you to them.

Here's my review of all the versions: 10/10 The Books. I read them once a year - I am biased thou because I see myself in Lisbeth so much, but anyone who read them will say the same. Book 1 -3 I recommend, stay away from all the later ones. 7/10 - The TV series, or "Extended Movies". Lower grade because in the books we live in Lisbeth's mind, and so she doesn't Have to speak, much. Totally relate to that... 5/10 - The movies. See my previous comment. ?/?? - The Graphic Novel (will read some day, released by Vertigo I think) 5/10 - The Fincher remake, mostly I didn't like it because it Is a remake. Why do it? Any why do it in Sweden again? With (many) Swedish actors as well? Plus, there won't ever be a part 2 or part 3 made by Fincher, ever. Other than that I guess it was okay. At least they included some different elements from the book. EDIT: And to be fair, slightly more accurate to the book.

It isn't 9 episodes, it's 6 episodes at 1.5 hours each. I can watch it in that format here in Canada on Amazon Prime without needing to pay extra. I also see it's available on Apple TV, too. No need for TOR/VPN. I plan to rewatch it this way someday.

I am excited to read the books one day. And I do want to check out the Fincher remake at some point, too. Thanks for sharing!
