A very solid episode, although that ending was heartbreaking. 😢 I'm looking forward to your thoughts on this one! Thank you so much for watching with me.

I've been WAITING for this episode just for this comment.... I really want to name my next boy cat Manousos. I already have so many side nickname noises. Manooo. Hola mí gato 🐱 He is my favorite character. His personality reminds me of a stubborn persistant cat.

I'm so glad you inspired me to watch this show. It's almost too weird to exist, but I'm glad it does. Feel like the Streaming Era is perfect for this kind of high concept thing. I remember a few back in the day on network TV and cable, but they tended to get cancelled. Streaming is where these shine. This series has me thinking a lot about the present state of ai, and what the future of it might look like, and how we interact in and around it. Presently YouTube has some ai program glued to my digital a$$ and erasing half or more of my comments, but won't tell me why, and even makes the comment appear to me but only me. It's a relatively small thing in the scheme of the world, but when you think about it, it's pretty dystopian to interfere with communication like that while actively trying to convince us that it's not. Interesting stuff. Wild how different Patreon is just on the basis that they don't have automated ai doing shadow moderation.

The AI stuff that Google is implementing is killing me. 😭 Patreon definitely uses AI to moderate... not individual comments, but creator content violations of the guidelines. And a bunch of us are pretty convinced that most of the emails from their Support team are AI-generated responses, even though staff have come out and said that there is always a human behind every Support response. We know that they use ZenDesk, which has a ton of AI features, so even if a human is "behind" the request, it's clear that they're just letting AI generate the response and sending it out, which sounds like the most boring job in the world to work in their Support team. And then you deal with frustrated creators and members when the AI generated response doesn't solve shit and now you're getting their angry replies back.

IKR. Even this all-knowing ai isn't actually authorized to solve or mediate problems. Lol

This episode made me do the thing I love. Learning about something new. The Darién Gap. Oh what a deep dive I went on with that. From those crazy plants and the snakes to the humans and gangs and and and and and. Yeah. I appreciate that this show sent me down a few rabbit holes. I also researched conversion camps, lysogenic viruses, and about Mauritania (the country where Koumba Diabate is from) slavery was legal until the 1990s!!!! Anyways love this show. Love your reaction.
