I kind of wish what happened in this finale had been spread out over the last two episodes, but that's okay. A very solid finale and I'm really excited for Season 2! This is such a different show, very slow-burn, interesting concepts! I'll definitely re-watch Season 1 shortly before we get to Season 2. Thanks so much for watching this show with me! I'm looking forward to your thoughts below on this finale and the show overall and let's theorize about what you think might come next. 😊

Can I just say.. How come Carol never tried pressing #pound to bypass the message and go directly to the beep! That was standard on the answering phone systems. Not once did she try it.

I think the memory card she flushes down the toilet with her truth serum trial recorded on it will come back to haunt her somehow. She should have cut/ burnt it before disposal.

I think the MVP GOAT award goes to the little drone that wrapped itself around the light pole. It had more heart and personality than some of the Joined.

No idea where the show will go from here. I'm trying to remember how other shows and movies in the same vein have ended; Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Faculty, Invasion etc. But I feel like a lot of those never had a definitive ending? Or I can't remember how. Also what was up with that scene that was like twenty years in the future or so? At the ice hotel? Not sure where the fit with anything.

The punchline ending, to a joke set up way back in episode 3, was hilarious and caught me by surprise. The way the show blends humor with so much sadness makes me feel the story end might be bittersweet. Curious to see what happens now that all the cards are on the table and they're sort of in a race against time.

My concern is if everyone is converted back to who they were all at once, will they be where they need to be. For example, would real pilots be flying planes? Would real doctors be in hospitals treating patients? Would politicians and governments be in place to run their countries? Also, if I remember correctly, there are no prisoners in prison anymore, so there would be convicts roaming the streets that are free to do what they want. It would be chaos and seems to be a no-win situation. It will be interesting to see if the writers of the show can figure out a way to address this if it comes to that.

I'd be super surprised if that came back in any way. But, I'm open to surprises.

I do think the radio frequency is the frequency they communicated on and when Manousos yelled at Rick, it disrupted that signal and there was no pattern to it, but when they came back, the signal had a pattern. He was testing to see if the signal was connected to them and he saw it did change so he brought the radio in, not to show it to Rick, but to know when the time of disruption was over. It's something. Some new info, how can that be used, I don't know yet.

I don't think Carol said that she can't do this forever. She said she keeps expecting the happiness to end and it doesn't and she doesn't want it to. She stopped and left when she realized they were still working towards making her one of them against her wishes. She felt betrayed, I think, and that's why she had nothing more to say because she'd already expressed that to them when Zosia was in the hospital and she told/reminded her of her mom and the conversion camp, where she hasn't spoken to her mother since. I can now tell you the one problem I have with the show. I don't mind slow-burn stories at all, but that being coupled with how TV and media is put out now, it takes a LONG time between seasons now and that, on top of the small # of episodes per season, made me frustrated. If the state of TV was like it used to be in either the longer length of the seasons or a few months in between seasons then I wouldn't have an issue. My preference would be shorter time between seasons, like 1 year. Nowadays, it's regularly 2-4 years between seasons. I think it's because of how cinematic shows are now that time and money are necessary to put out the quality we have now. In this show, there was SO much time of Carol just slowly adjusting to the new situation of the world and not her asking questions and trying to figure things out and, during the airing, I was getting very frustrated, even though I did enjoy the humor and uniqueness of the situations, but I knew there were a very limited number of eps (10 or less) and wanted to move the story along further, to give us more to hold onto for the undoubtedly LONG wait between seasons. I kept yelling stuff like, "C'MON! You don't have ANY QUESTIONS?? We're running out of time here!" 😆 When Carol did ask questions or investigate, she did ask good questions, but it seemed to regularly be about 5-10 mins of the whole episode. This whole season felt like the preface or introduction to what the actual story was going to be. It was the setup for the actual story of the series.

I remember Ben Stiller saying "there's no way it will take another 3 years to get season 3 of Severance." Yeah, not three years maybe, but still two and a half. Lol. You practically forget the shows ever existed in the first place during the waits.

I think the Manusos meeting was around 60 days, and Kusimayu changed around 70. So it seems Carol was vacationing with Zosia for around 9 days or so. The classic Vince flash forward at the start of the ep.

My prediction for next season and beyond has to do with a kind of throw away line from the episode where Carol and Helen are at the ice hotel. The guy there says "The human race grew up alongside glaciers during the ice ages. Cold stimulates ancient nerves, makes you feel a primal connection to the world." Maybe they have to disrupt the signal going to these people, then shock them with an ice bath or something to reboot them somehow. I know Vince loves small details like that that he can use later.
