Ted Lasso: Make Rebecca Great Again [1x07] | Full-Length Watchalong Reaction

Nathan Jasper

One of my favorite episodes of the whole series. I know Jason is doing his job as an actor and he does it well but something in me tells me the way he moves his hands and the way he presented his performance of a panic attack, really shows me that he knows what it's like. That felt personal and real and that's what makes this show feel so relatable.

Brilliant episode overall. Ted struggling with a panic attack and Rebecca actually coming out for him is lovely. Nate telling the team the gods honest truth leading to their win was brilliant. Not only to show that he really knows his shit but also that he has a little character growth there. Standing eye to eye with Roy and telling him to his face what he needed to hear. But it was also such a great scene for Roy because it shows that he wanted to bring that out in Nate. He encouraged him to stand up. But my favorite detail is that Roy knows the lyrics to Let it Go. It tells you so much about his character. Of course he knows it bc he is hanging out with Phoebe a lot and she probably made him watch it 50 times. But the fact that he isnt scared to mouth along in a room full of adults just shows how secure he is in his masculinity and that he has a soft side to him. Great writing!

Agreed. The best acting is when the actor is able to bring a little personal experience into the performance.

Sean Ellingham

Hannah Waddingham starred in a number of musicals prior to her acting career - I believe her best known role is in Spamalot, both in the West End and on Broadway. I think I've heard/read that the producers didn't know she could sing prior to casting her, so it wasn't going to be a thing in the show. I've also read that Disney only allowed the song to be used once they heard that she could actually sing - not entirely sure if that's true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Onno Smits

My fav episode of Season 1. Exactly for the reasons you hit upon in your outro. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, and it highlights the interesting dichotomy within both Ted and Rebecca.
