I thought I recognized the title of this one! I forget where I saw the trailer for it, but the concept reminded me a lot of one of my favorite books, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. I think you may have mentioned interest in her work on the last live chat, but I'm not sure. Even more excited to watch along with you for this one now! Wooo!

Definitely needed this movie tonight. It's such a beautiful story. I do agree with the narration kind of taking away from certain areas, especially the ending. No narration lets the audience live inside the immersion of it all which would make the fantasy even more charming. Personally am glad for the reversal ending because loss is hard for a normal lifespan much less an immortal who who would essentially be setting themselves up for failure by going in knowing they would watch these people die and have to lose yet another person. Immortality isn't living forever, it's watching everyone else die. But that's just my cynical-ass viewpoint LOL On that note, the hopefulness and romance that they're able to put into the film without falling into a despair spiral was really cool and I'm thankful for it. Harrison did so so well with his scenes, the way he made us feel the shock of seeing her again, the grief of losing her, and the hope of realizing who she was. And to be able to say in that moment, Stay for Ellis, that's huge and such a beautiful 'let go' moment for his character. Brad -Thank you for the Request, and KL -Thank you for the reaction.

This movie really is a hidden gem and I loved my first on-demand viewing the year after release. I used to check movies by year every January of the year's previous releases. I'd scroll month by month and see if any looked interesting. Ya know what? This was one of them. I'm still working on different lists from previous international movies. Aniara (2018), Arporia (2023), Hatchling (2022), Vesper (2022), & Things Will Be Different (2024) are all indi Sci-fi that I'm planning to catch up on this summer. btw-have you started to edit this one? So, i don't know who else noticed but on the movie counter (not the stream timer) time stamps of 1:04:22 you got a creepy crawly on the cushion under the picture frame by right shoulder and 1:21:49 you got another on sweater by mic. I was hesitant to mention but I resolved that it might help with editing. I hope it's not alarming. But if you put those in somehow to troll us, nicely done.

Aniara is very good. One of my favorite foreign sci-fi films of recent years.

I noticed the bug too as I was looking for an image for the thumbnail! I have a 100 year old house, so bugs here and there are kind of normal although the spiders tend to get them quick so they usually don't crawl up on my furniture. 😂
