We really thought we understood how powerful Fisk has become but this episode revealed just how much he controls and plans. Matt has completely abandoned his faith and moral code after being hurt so badly by Father Lantom and his mom. The show has the constant theme of Matt's character being pushed towards crossing the moral line and he has resisted but this episode he seemed done with trying to keep that moral code.

I get Matt being upset that he wasn't told about his mother, but I'm not sure why he thinks Father Paul would have ever told him - as Father Paul said back in S1 keeping secrets is part and parcel of being a priest. IMO, the only people that can be justifiably blamed for keeping it from Matt are Maggie and his father. I do like the whole sequence of Matt's subconscious via both his father and Fisk basically calling out why Matt does what he does - however he justifies it, whatever reasoning he uses to couch his actions, ultimately it just comes down to the fact that he likes to hurt people. What's interesting it that he seemed a bit more accepting of that last season - perhaps because now he's lost his faith he has to come to terms with his nature being solely down to him rather than having the excuse/fallback that that's how 'God' wanted him. I would like some more detail on how Fisk planned all of this - we've already seen that he's very good at putting elaborate plans into place, but I'm not clear on how the timing works out. The precipitating factor in starting all this was the threat to Vanessa at the beginning of the season, but then Nadeem was a target for over a year, which is well before that. Perhaps it's because I don't think it's been made clear how much time has passed since S1. Don't get me wrong, I certainly buy that Fisk is capable of arranging all this, it's just I'd like some indication of how he achieved it given that his previous empire was (as far as we've been told) dismantled after S1.

Honestly I agree with you, seeing more about how Fisk pulled this off would be satisfying.
