Exactly! Katara is the sweet but strong 'mom' of the group💦, while Azula is just straight-up unhinged and aggressive🔥. They’re surprisingly similar though, since they both have serious mommy issues. But let’s not forget most characters from Avatar are in their early teens—not exactly the age to be discussing sex😅

And Katara actually pulled it off twice (though in a much gentler way😅). I saw a take on X about how Azula has never actually beaten Katara, and it was so interesting. Since Katara was the last waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe, Azula probably had little to no experience fighting them, so she never learned how to counter their moves. Plus, Katara just happened to be a bending prodigy on the same level as Azula.

Ive always had this headcanon that Katara being one of the very few people who can genuinely match and even overpower Azula, is what initially draws Azula to her. Azula is the embodiment of perfection, used to being untouchable, and Katara is one of the first outsiders to disrupt that narrative. That kind of challenge would inevitably spark something in Azula. At her core, Azula is drawn to power and katara IS powerful. It inspired me so much that I had to make my own fanart of this dynamic haha!
