I also reacted like Kyoshi when I read that scene on the book, I was like "Rangi noooo!!! What are you doing?! Get out of there!!!" Definitely our little flame has unorthodox ways to prove her point, effective, but way too much to handle, poor Kyoshi, she didn't even know what to feel at that moment, she just knew she didn't want to loose Rangi.

LOL I remember reading this and being like, the fuck this fire lady is nuts, I love her! You captured Kyoshi's face perfectly, just how I imagined she would look at Rangi, hurt because Rangi got hurt, annoyed because she knew she was making a point and then even more seeing that fake smile that probably looked pretty scary for someone that knows Rangi like Kyoshi does XD Again, great art! I absolutely adore your art style and the way you capture the characters, you made this ship go straight up to my top ever tier lists of ships and I can't get over how obsessed I am with them! Lol! Homer & Bart bubble is such an accurate representation of Kyoshi’s frustrations. I know it was reckless, but I gotta admit I was on Team Rangi for this entire exchange. I felt for her more than I did for Kyoshi…I might get smacked for saying this.😅 A calculated risk from a controlled tactician, with a spicy flair. We like efficiency. Seems like a slight change in your style here. Especially shows on Kyoshi. Bolder black shadows accentuating dramatic effect. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you straight up use black under/around the jaw before, stands out to me. Some of the choice highlights on their faces as well.🔥

Just one look, and suddenly I'm itching to reread the Kyoshi novels from beginning to end ! ! 🎉 First of all, there's something distinctly different about the linework here—it feels cleaner, bolder, and more compact than usual. It gives Kyoshi such an imposing presence, even while she's completely overwhelmed by everything she's feeling. Rangi's pained grimace is almost funny. I can practically feel the searing throb in her lip and the dazed haze clouding her thoughts. Not to mention that, even after a near-death experience, she's still proud of what she did. She really is a menace. 🐅 Kyoshi's anger, on the other hand, is so painfully frustrating. I understand it, but I also know this foolish Avatar would never unleash that fury on Rangi—not even after the heart attack she practically gave her. And those tears trembling on the edge of her lashes are absolutely breathtaking. Once again... gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous !! 💯💯

​I think Kyoshi first realized her feelings in the Escape chapter. But she tried to bury those feelings at the time because surviving was the top priority. And as you mentioned, I think the moment she truly accepted those feelings was thos chapter when she directly realized that she couldn't live without Rangi... and well since they ended up kissing shortly after🥹 The process of her realizing her feelings is written so well that it's wonderful to dwell on no matter how many times I re-read it. F.C. Yee is truly goat😭😭

Especially when I was super confused by Rangi’s behavior and God we had to see the story from Kyoshi’s POV😭😭, I mean she was even more confused than I was😭 ​That part where Rangi took a hit on purpose completely blew my mind! I thought she had some master plan, but no—she literally just did it to shock Kyoshi back to her senses. What a crazy hotwoman....She really is a fiery woman🔥🔥🔥🔥 ​The writing is so incredible that imagining and drawing the scenes is just so much fun. All praise to F.C. ​The Simpson scene is something I've been picturing ever since I first read the book. I love this scene so much...that was literally the first time Kyoshi was so clear and intense about wanting to slap Rangi lol The way it was written was super cute, but you could totally tell how much this tiny hot woman completely threw Kyoshi through a loop. I’ve always thought of you as more like Rangi with her calm and tactical side, so seeing your comment about relating more to Rangi was just so satisfying 😩🤌 ​And—yeah, you're right. I'm trying to tweak things here and there since my art style lacks variety. It feels like my art is stuck in a rut, which has been stressing me out... It's definitely a confusing phase, but I'm trying to push through it by just drawing what I love😉💚❤️💚❤️🔥

You know, ​If there's an itch, you've gotta scratch it! I actually started listening to the audiobook again yesterday. Nancy really nailed it—her acting for Kyoshi and Rangi is so perfect that I always picture the characters with her voice in my head. ​You're right that I made a slight change to my lineart and character colouring! Wow, I thought it was such a tiny tweak, so I was really surprised how many people noticed. I wanted to shake things up a bit, so I tried changing the lineart brush and coloring style slightly. I wanted to go in a direction that feels a bit rougher yet softer. ​I loved how Rangi in this scene perfectly matches the way Hei-Ran describes and views her in the next book. Before this, Rangi felt more like a cold-headed, strategic, plan-driven soldier, but after this scene, she felt like a total handful of a troublemaker and a cute daughter. After that, whenever Hei-Ran scolded her young lady in Shadow of Kyoshi, I could relate so much. Even though she's an only child, raising her must have been quite a handful lolz lol ​Now I'm ready to move on to the lake scene and draw these two forever🔥

Wow—if you keep singing its praises like that, I'll probably end up listening to it myself. It might even help, considering English isn't my first language. Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that the difference is noticeable. It's distinct without being jarring—unmistakably yours, yet with a slightly different personality. And Rangi... oh, Rangi. Yes, I can already picture both the chaos of her childhood and the tenderness Hei-Ran was capable of showing her. And oh. My. God. I can't wait !! I've loved every moment you've taken the pleasure to portray the aftermath of the Lei Tai on Rangi's face, because you never shy away from showing the true weight of it—the recklessness of what happened, and above all, what Kyoshi had to confront before admitting she couldn't bear to live knowing she'd lost her. I know you'll do that scene justice, because that's what you always do with the stories and characters you care about. Good luck !! 😁 🫶🏻

I actually thought Rangi had a plan or somethingand when I found out she was knocked out for real I facepalmed so much XD damn girl!! She's always unpredictable, like you are there thinking she's so cool and then you just find out she has been running like a gremling all around trying to get to places before kyoshi just to impress her XD fucking adorable. My only wish in this life is that F.C. Yee finds you and hires you to do the whole illustrated book. Then my life would be complete.

While both can be impulsive, I think Rangi’s impulsiveness is more controlled, like…she’s consistent. I don’t know if that makes sense. Like she can redline but not blowout the gauge and bounce back on her own. Your assumption is correct and goes beyond “calm and tactical”…for better or worse.😔We’re probably highly allergic to the same things, and not in the food or cat dander sense. I’m sorry you feel stuck and stressed, and it probably doesn’t matter what I say, but regardless of what you end up sharing with us…I think the steps getting to where you want to be matter. Even if you don’t feel like these small changes are worth celebrating, that’s why we’re here—to do it for you. No one is ever constantly performing at 100%, and the fact that you’re always taking those steps to give us quality art makes me respect you endlessly.🙂 Always thankful for your hard work, Chef.
