Hey everyone,

We hope you've had a chance to look through the adventure supplement from last month covering the Blackthorne Woods and the Vampires that live there.

We really liked the concept of one of the locations we created for the regional map and a plot hook - the Nest of Leeches tavern, a run down establishment on the edge of the forest.

So, for December's MotM, you'll be getting this fully detailed tavern with a cellar/well cave. It's great if you want to flesh out the previous setting, or use it anywhere.

There will be three variants of this map - autumnal, winter and burning (following one of the plot lines from our Blackthorne adventure supplement).

Alt-Version Ideas!

As always, time for your alt-version ideas. What should we turn this map into? How else could we use this building? What could we reskin it as? How would you reimagine this location?

Put your ideas in the comments, and we'll pick our favourites to go into a poll.

Good luck!

Its easy to imagine this as the secret meeting place of a group of thieves or cultists. Another thought is that the totally legit tavern keeper was trying to enlarge his cellar and broke into an ancient ruin, and now *SOMETHING* is coming up from below and terrorizing him and his family.

Jimmy the Barkeep

A desert military, bandit, or merchant outpost guarding a very sacred resource- Water!

Andrew Croft

Sumo rink, indoor and outdoor competing area with room for bets and crowds to gather, with baths underground. Training zone shrine and betting zone. Spring flowering cherry blossom.

Sven Myrin

A church in sheep's clothing. The church professes to heal the sick and injured with a magic cure taken from a spiritual pool. In reality, the church harbors a secret cult that is spreading more than a cure in their healing waters. I imagine a hellish underground contrasting against a holy façade above ground.

Robin McNicoll

Perhaps this could be on the edge of a lake, with a hidden smuggler's boathouse underneath.

David Kline

A Cthulhuian Cult House, where the lower floor leads to a summoning well to the Beyond.

Emily

Perhaps a guild hall with training and fighting arena beneath

How about a seedier version where the upstairs has gambling tables and the downstairs is a fight club?

René Bargisen

Thieves Tavern hosting a bar on the ground level and fighting arena, storage and bar below. Perhaps with a secret ladder antrance in the barn? Remember toilets - almost always missing :-). Make it in summer, winter and night variants of both.

David Motley

A cheesemonger, a shop upfront and then all of the churns and processing in the back, with the cave below being used to store of the finest cheeses for aging and preservation!

1. Tavern on the docks - replace road with docks and forest with surrounding buildings. 2. Small mine. Replace tavern interior with vault, assayer's office, miners' barracks etc., pool of water becomes an open pit, the courtyard also opens into the pit, with a lift or crane overhead. 3. Bathhouse with natural heated spring in an urban or mountainous setting.
