April's Alt-Version Poll!

  • Travelling Theatre Troupe - a stage production set up in the 'arena', with ticket stalls, tents, outside tavern, caravans and wagons etc. 58
  • Deadlands Fight Pit - A Conan/Dark Sun type location, with a dry dead landscape and a brutal fightpit. 35

Hey everyone,

First, we're really blown away by how well received the Elven Wedding map has been. Can't wait to share it with you all!

Secondly, there's so many amazing ideas for Alts that we've got quite an extensive 'shortlist'. Because of that, we've decided that the runner up in this poll will be May's Third Map.

So, the options are:

Travelling Theatre Troupe - a stage production set up in the 'arena', with ticket stalls, tents, outside tavern, caravans and wagons etc.

Deadlands Fight Pit - A Conan/Dark Sun type location, with a dry dead landscape and a brutal fightpit.

Dark Druidic Ritual Site - A dark semi-fey forest, with the circular location adored with animal skulls, overgrown altars and standing stones.

The Ruined Tower - a crumbling stone tower/small castle in the forest. Will include bandit/goblin camp version, as well as standard.

Could really use the magma fight arena, heading to the plane of fire soon, they are all awesome.

Many voted for forest maps, but it already is a forest map :-( Just dropping/swapping a few prefab objects on the base map and (optionally) adding blue night time tint can easily produce Travelling Theatre, Ruined Tower, and Military Camp. I feel it's a shame to vote for these, cause then we miss out on variants that cannot be created by post-publish edits... I know a lot of people are running generic euro centric campaigns, but please spare a thought for those who don't need another bandit/military/goblin camp in the forest (HeroicMaps have already produced dozens of these).

Agreed; the more exotic the map, the more difficult is for me to produce/cobble something together myself. Maps of forests and camps are plentiful; we have several excellent Heroic Maps with these kinds of locations already. The Dark Sun-style arena and the Magmafalls arena are probably beyond my ability to make myself in a satisfactory manner.
