Hi everyone!

Time for the MotM preview. We've also done the Variants, so you can see those too.

For this month, we thought a classic flooded dungeon would be good fun, with lots of different levels resulting in different depths of flooding. Explore the Royal Tombsof Bethryn!

We've also made the three... I mean FOUR variants! (Yes, a bonus one!).  We thought having a non-flooded version would be very handy, and then Sarah had the idea of also doing one where the tomb complex is still in use, with occasional royal burials.  That could allow some interesting time-jump adventures...

We also thought the layout felt quite Dwarven, so there's a snowy and non-snowy pair of Dwarven tombs.

Alt-Version

Right, now it's time for you to suggest Alt-versions of the MotM.  How would you re-imagine this location?  What else could be here? Who else could use this space?  What else happens here?  Put your ideas in the comments below and we'll pick our favourites for a poll :)

Destroyed dungeon, because of a dragon, now a dragon hoard... we could probably see how the dragon entered the tomb, a huge hole that goes from northwest to southeast

I’m currently running Descent into Avernus and this would make a great alternate dungeon for the crypts in Elturel so a corrupted/infernal variant would be amazing to use. Instead of water it’s smoke from the hellfire so a different kind of environmental danger. Some rooms could have objects on fire providing new obstacles etc

A underwater tomb, with kelp and coral all around.

Ancient Greek tomb with statues of various deities. East Asian tomb with demon guardians.

I would love to see this map reworked as the hidden complex of a sect of cultists with dualistic beliefs. The entry chapel would be for the initiation ritual in which novices dedicate themselves to one side or the other of the cult (light/dark, fire/ice, yin/yang, etc.). The mirrored wings of the complex would feature dormitories, training/research areas, and quarters/offices for the high priests for the two aspect of the cult, and then the bottom right area would be the sacred space where the two faces of the deity combine for their most powerful rituals.

Wow, this is a great map already :-). How about an underground thieves guild headquarters disguised as a wine cellar? My thought was that the big pillar room and rooms next to it could be filled with bottle racks and beer barrels. Perhaps one room could be a small storage-office. The guild could be accessed through secret doors on both the north and south side of the big pillar room - one of the doors could be located in the storage-office. There is enough rooms for sleeping quarters, kitchen, toilets, training exercises equipment, study rooms, armory, forgery and of course the main dining room with two long tables and the guild masters throne. Perhaps you should consider either removing the pillars, or reduce the numbers great, as I imagine the rooms to be fairly small to manoeuver in for a party of four + opponents, furnitures etc. The map could function with every tavern, house etc. map that has a cellar..

The Hall of Puzzling Mirrors. Remove the interior exits and then line the first chamber with ornate mirrors. Break the rest into smaller rooms with mirrors connecting from one to another. Then PCs move about going through the mirrors to each zone. Probably will need a key to show which mirrors connect to which zone with only one pathway leading to the final room (boss and treasure). A bit like the wizards snow globe. You can also connect (suggest ideas) to other maps in the Heroic Maps collection that you already have in your set that include mirrors as optional pathways (perhaps some mirrors don't work if you don't have that map). If you have not read it In the Mirror of Her Dreams followed by A Man Rides through by Stephen Donaldson is excellent fantasy two book series on mirrors and magic.

Seeing the dry, snowy, and watery versions, it looks like there's a wonky thermostat. Maybe one with steam and another with fire, and complete the set! Then you can have a widget that sort-of controls the environment...

Clockwork dungeon, OCD dungeon each room a different type of treasure

I like smaller maps. They are condensed, easier to edit or change, and they fit on the tabletop TV setups (which are generally only about 25 inches across, and 55 inches long) - that's a 55" TV, by the way. Maps that are 30 or 40 squares are useful only for VTTs I guess because they don't fit on the TV and scrolling is necessary to use them. If you scale the map down to fit on a TV, then the minis end up overlapping a lot. I guess most of the backers care only about VTTs, perhaps. But wish that there were more "25 square width or less" maps produced.

Completely underwater, built and used by tritons or some other underwater race.

Grain silo towers. The city of Lankhmar has loads of them, but personally never come across a floorplan of one.
