SXD: Team RWBY + JNPR React to Weiss’s Pregnancy (Patreon)

The air in the Vale apartment was thick with a tension only Weiss seemed to feel. She adjusted the hem of her blouse for the tenth time, her fingers trembling slightly against the fabric.
‘How did I end up here?’ She wondered, her mind racing through a million possibilities. ‘A Schnee, an heiress, and now… this. If my father could see me now, he’d likely have a heart attack.’ Weiss had been dreading this moment. She and Issei had agreed to tell their friends together, which meant that now, she was sitting in their shared apartment in Vale, arms crossed, waiting for everyone to arrive.
Beside her, Issei was the picture of ease. He was sprawled out on the sofa, one arm draped over the backrest, humming a tune he’d probably picked up from a video game. “You’re worrying too much,” he said, his voice a warm anchor in her sea of anxiety. He turned to her, his brown eyes dancing with that familiar, annoying, yet comforting mischief. “They’re gonna be happy for us, Weiss. I promise.”
“I know that,” Weiss sighed, finally resting her hands in her lap. “I know they’ll be supportive. But that doesn’t mean I’m prepared for the sheer volume of their reactions. It’s going to be… loud.”
Issei tilted his head, a lopsided grin stretching across his face. “Come on, Princess. What’s the worst that could—”
BANG! The door burst open.
“Alright, we’re here!” Ruby Rose erupted into the room like a firecracker, her red cloak trailing behind her as she blurred into their home. Behind her, Yang, Blake, and the entirety of Team JNPR filed in, their faces a mix of curiosity and excitement.
“What’s the big announcement?” Ruby cheered, vibrating in place. “Are you guys finally getting married? Did Weiss finally agree to Issei’s dumb harem idea?”
“NO!” Weiss snapped, her face heating up instantly.
Issei chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck as he will soon have to tell the truth to Weiss. “Yeah, uh, definitely not the harem thing. My life is complicated enough with just one Weiss, thanks.”
Weiss took a deep, shaky breath. She felt Issei’s hand slide over hers, his palm warm and steady. She squeezed back, drawing strength from him. She looked at the group, her found family by choice and cleared her throat. “Actually…” Weiss began, her voice gaining a formal tone she uses when she was nervous. “Issei and I asked you here because… well, I’m pregnant.”
The silence that followed was heavy.
And then Ruby’s eyes went wide, her mouth falling open. Yang’s jaw dropped, Blake froze with wide eyes, their faces in a state of shock and Pyrrha looked as though her mind had rebooted. Jaune and Ren simply blinked, their brains struggling to understand what they just heard.
“WHAT?!” Came from all their friends. The collective shout was enough to rattle the windows.
“WEISS IS HAVING A BABY!” Nora Valkyrie screamed, launching herself onto the back of the couch. “OH MY GOD! WE’RE GONNA BE AUNTS AND UNCLES! WE NEED A CRIB! WE NEED TINY HAMMERS! WE NEED PANCAKES!”
Weiss winced as her ears rang. “Nora—please—”
Yang was the first to fully recover, a predatory, knowing smirk spreading across her face. She stepped forward, crossing her arms over her chest. “Holy crap, Weiss. Just how many times are you and Issei actually… having sex.”
“Our sex life is private and not for you to know!” Weiss cut her off, her face turning a shade of red that rivaled Ruby’s cloak.
Yang cackled, a deep, belly-shaking sound. “Well, I always knew you were the freakiest among us, Ice Queen!”
Weiss groaned, burying her face in her hands. “This was a mistake. We should have just moved to Atlas and changed our names.”
Ruby finally snapped out of her trance, leaning in so close to Weiss that their noses almost touched. “Wait, wait, wait! You mean you’re actually having a baby? Like, a real, tiny human? With Issei? Is it going to have wings? Will it breathe fire?”
Weiss glared at her leader, though there was no real heat in it. “I don’t know but it’s a baby, Ruby. I really hope not.”
Blake, ever the voice of reason, stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on Weiss’s shoulder. “Congratulations, Weiss. Truly. It’s a lot to take in, but I’m happy for you both.”
“This is wonderful news,” Pyrrha added, her smile radiant. “You’ll be a beautiful mother, Weiss.”
Ren nodded solemnly. “It’s unexpected, certainly. But… I think you’ll both be great parents. You certainly balance each other out.”
Jaune blinked. “Wait… does this mean Issei has to start acting like an adult?”
Jaune blinked, looking between the refined Weiss and the grinning Issei. “Wait… does this mean Issei has to start acting like an adult now? Like, with taxes and…be responsible?”
Issei’s eyes widened. A look of genuine soul-crushing terror crossed his face. Responsibility? Like, no more midnight snacks? No more being a goof?
“I doubt it.” Everyone in the room, Weiss included, said in perfect unison.
Issei slumped back against the sofa, releasing a massive sigh of relief. “Phew. Okay. Good. I thought I was gonna have to start wearing a tie or something.”
Meanwhile, Nora had not calmed down at all as she was already in full planning mode. “Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl? Can I help pick the name? If it’s a girl, can we name her Thunderbolt? Can I be the godmother? I’m the strongest, so I can protect it from everything!”
Weiss blinked. “I—”
“Dibs!” Ruby shouted, jumping up. “I’m the Best Friend! So I get to be the godmother!”
“I called it first!” Nora countered, pointing a finger at Ruby. The two then started to wrestle to decide who would be the godmother.
Yang just laughed, leaning against the wall. “Man, this kid is gonna have way too many crazy aunts. It doesn't stand a chance.”
Weiss groaned. “I knew this would happen.” She then watched them as they argued, laughed, and enjoyed the sight of all the sheer, chaotic joy of it all. Her initial dread began to dissolve, replaced by a warmth. She felt Issei wrap an arm around her, pulling her close.
“Told you they’d be happy,” he whispered into her hair.
Weiss sighed, leaning her head against his shoulder. A small, genuine smile finally tugged at her lips. “…Yeah. You did.”
She looked around the room at the people who had fought Grimm by her side, who had seen her at her worst and still stayed. They were loud, they were intrusive, and they were currently debating whether a baby could wear a mini-combat skirt.
They were family. And deep down, looking at the life she was building with the boy who had crashed into her world, Weiss wouldn’t have it any other way.
