DW DXD Omake: Arrival Black Clover (Patreon)

The royal capital of the Clover Kingdom bustled with its usual rhythm. High above, the white stone spires of the noble realm gleamed with arrogant brilliance, while below, in the bustling central plazas, the air was thick with the scent of freshly baked bread and the low hum of casual magic. Merchants called out deals, nobles strolling with practiced elegance, and commoners weaving through the crowded streets with purpose.
It was a normal day. Until the world tore open as a sharp, electric crack split the air.
“—What was that?!”
Heads turned as right in the center of the square, a rift of violent, sapphire light flickered into existence in the center of the fountain square, humming with a frequency that made the very mana in the air vibrate. Pedestrians froze. A group of Magic Knights on patrol halted, hands instinctively drifting to the hilts of their swords or the covers of their grimoires.
People stumbled back.
"Is that... spatial magic?" One commoner whispered, shielding his eyes from the glare.
“No… that’s not any magic I’ve ever seen!” A noblewoman muttered, her fan snapping shut.
“Is this an attack?!”
A nobleman recoiled, clutching his coat. “Guards! GUARDS!”
But before anyone could act from the heart of the blue luminescence, a boot stepped onto the cobblestones. Issei Hyoudou, stumbled out of the portal, blinking against the midday sun. ‘New world, same dramatic entrance,’ Issei thought, a bead of sweat rolling down his temple as he felt hundreds of eyes locking onto him. ‘Please let the local authorities be the "talk first" kind of people this time. I’m still sore from Magnolia.’ He thought as he rolled his shoulders before looking around.
His eyes scanned the unfamiliar architecture, the medieval streets, the sheer density of mana in the air. “…Yeah. Definitely not Japan.”
(New world confirmed, Partner.) Ddraig’s voice rumbled in his mind, amused. (And quite the lively one at that. I can feel the mana in the air, it’s thick enough to chew on, )
Issei scratched his cheek. ‘Sometime, I’d like to land somewhere quiet. ’
“Scan complete,” Sherri’s voice chimed internally. “Atmospheric mana concentration is high. Origin: Unknown. Suggesting caution; we are currently the most interesting thing in a three-block radius.”
Behind him, the portal pulsed, and the "Dragon Heart" household began to file out.
The atmosphere in the square shifted instantly. If Issei had caused curiosity, the women following him caused a complete collective loss of composure. Yuuka stepped out first, her hand resting habitually on the hilt of her weapon, her eyes sharp and analytical. “Huh… a fantasy medieval town again?” She noted, her voice tinged with a mix of exhaustion and curiosity. “At least the air doesn’t smell like shit this time.”
Tamamo followed, her golden tails fanning out with a deliberate, graceful sway that seemed to make the sunlight itself work in her favor. “Ara what a lively place. Darling, you’ve brought us somewhere interesting” Tamamo chirped, shielding her eyes with a delicate hand while her fox ears twitched. "The mana here is quite spicy and abundant! It feels like everyone is carrying a lot of magic. How quaint!"
The crowd’s reaction was a wave of gasps and dropped jaws.
“…Did she just call him darling?”
“Are those…Fox ears?!”
“She has... actual tails?!”
“And she called that commoner-looking boy Darling? Preposterous!”
Then more stepped through as Miya, Uzume, and the rest of the Sekirei stepped through—each radiating their own distinct, overwhelming presence—a visible wave of flustered confusion swept through the male onlookers. Nobles forgot their posture; shopkeepers dropped their wares.
Uzume, stretching like she’d just woken up. “Ooooh~ new playground? Issei, tell me there’s a good place to get snacks here. Traveling through dimensions really works up an appetite!”
Matsu, eyes already sparkling like a mad scientist. Her glasses glinted as she stared at a passing noble’s grimoire. “The ambient energy density here is fascinating… Oh, the experiments I could run! Issei, can I dissect one of those people? Just a small one!”
“No dissecting the locals, Matsu!” Issei barked back, though his focus shifted as Yashima stepped out, clutching her dress and shrinking slightly behind his shoulder.
“I-Issei… there are a lot of people staring…” Yashima whispered, her voice trembling. “It’s even more crowded than the Harvest festival.”
“Don’t worry, Yashima,” Akitsu said, her voice a cool, stabilizing support as she stepped beside her. Her eyes remained stoic, though a faint frost began to crystallize on the fountain’s edge near her feet. “If they move to harm us, I will flash-freeze the square before they can blink.”
“Now that’s the spirit!” Karasuba interjected, stepping out with a predatory smirk that sent a chill down the spines of the nearby Magic Knights. Her hand rested on the hilt of her blade, her thumb subtly nudging the guard up. “I wonder if the warriors in this world have any spine. They look a bit soft in those fancy capes.”
“Karasuba, behave,” Miya said firmly, stepping out with a regal dignity that made several nobles instinctively bow before they even knew why. “We are guests in this realm. Let’s not start a war in the first five minutes.”
Erza and Mirajane, who stepped out next with curious eyes, both radiating power and beauty that turned even more heads.
"The architecture is reminiscent of back home," Erza noted, her voice steady and commanding. She didn't miss the way the local knights were staring. "Though the military presence here seems... dense. Issei, stay sharp. Those men in the robes, their mana is disciplined. "
Mirajane offered a deceptively sweet, closed-eye smile to a fruit vendor who looked like he was about to faint. "Don't mind us, we're just passing through," she said, her voice like honey, though the sheer pressure of her latent magic made the air around her ripple.
"By the Wizard King..." a young Magic Knight stammered, his face turning a shade of red that rivaled his crimson cape. "Who are they? Are they... spies from the Diamond Kingdom?"
“…A-are they nobles from another kingdom?”
“No way… look at their clothes! They’re far too high-quality for commoners, but too strange for nobles!”
“THERE ARE TOO MANY BEAUTIFUL WOMEN—” one merchant wailed, clutching his chest. “Is this some kind of parade?! Or a dream?!”
Several men outright froze; one vendor watched his apples roll into the gutter as he desperately tried to stop them, while an elderly noble fainted into the arms of his terrified valet.
“Oh my!” Ruby burst out of the portal next, spinning in place until her black dress flared out. Her red fur was practically puffing with pure adrenaline. “This place is HUGE!!! Look at all the buildings! And people! And—!” She stopped, her ears twitching as she realized the square had gone silent. “…Issei? Why are they all looking at us like we’re weird?”
“A TALKING CAT?!” Screamed a noble with surprise.
Right behind her, Kuromaru padded out. Even in his ‘dog’ form, his frame was massive, and the way his golden eyes scanned the crowd for threats made the onlookers surge backward.
“A monster—?!” A knight yelled, his hand trembling as he reached for his grimoire. “It’s huge! Is it tame?!”
Kuromaru simply yawned, a display of teeth that did nothing to soothe the crowd’s nerves, before sitting down firmly behind Issei.
Finally, Sakura stepped through, her tiny hands gripping Kuromaru’s fur for balance as she peeked out. Her purple hair caught the sunlight as she toddled forward. "Whoa!" she gasped, her eyes wide as saucers. "Daddy, look! The castle is so big! Does a big king live there? Does he have a crown like in my books?"
Issei sighed, rubbing the back of his head as he felt the sheer weight of the growing crowd. “…Honestly, Sakura? No clue. But I bet he’s got a big chair.” He looked at the wide-eyed Magic Knights and the pulsing mana in the air. “Really hope they don’t start attacking.”
Yuuka pinched the bridge of her nose, her snarky side taking over to hide her nerves. “Great. Just great. We just dropped into the middle of a capital city like we own the place. Issei, your ‘luck’ is officially a disaster.”
Tamamo giggled softly, moving closer to cling to Issei’s arm, her tails swaying with predatory grace. “Fufufu~ but look at their faces, darling. It seems we’ve made quite the entrance. They’re absolutely smitten! Or terrified. Or both!”
“Yeah, no kidding…” Issei muttered, his eyes catching the glint of steel.
A group of more knights dressed in white began pushing through the crowd, their heavy boots clanging against the stone. “Make way! MOVE ASIDE! Magic Knights coming through!”
The weirdly silver haired captain stepped forward, his blue eyes sharp as he appraised the group. He looked at their strange outfits, the overwhelming presence of the Sekirei, and the sheer 'wrongness' of the mana radiating from them. It wasn't the refined mana of a noble or the thin mana of a commoner—it was something vast and alien.
“…You there.” He pointed directly at Issei. “Identify yourselves. That spatial rift was unauthorized and high-level. What kind of magic was that just now?”
Issei blinked, his mind racing. “…Uh.”
‘Think, Issei. Think.’
“…Travel magic?” he offered, his voice lacking any conviction.
Matsu snorted behind him, her fingers already twitching as she looked at the captain’s hovering grimoire. “That was the worst explanation you could’ve given, dear Ashikabi. Mathematically speaking, you had a 90% chance of sounding more believable if you’d just said a ‘magic trick.’”
The captain’s eyes narrowed, his grimoire flipping open to a glowing page. “I’ve never seen a spell with that signature. And all of you—” his gaze shifted to Tamamo’s ears, then to Karasuba’s cold smirk, then to Erza’s armored presence. “Your mana… it’s irregular. It doesn’t even seem to be coming from grimoires.”
(That’s putting it mildly, Partner,) Ddraig’s voice rumbled in Issei's mind. (You're basically a bonfire in a room full of candles. They’re scared.)
Karasuba tilted her head slightly, her hand resting on the hilt of her nodachi. A dangerous, bloodthirsty smile played on her lips. “They’re getting tense, Issei. Their hearts are beating quite fast. Can I cut them? Just a little? To see what color they bleed?”
“NO,” Issei said immediately.
Miya’s gentle voice followed, her hand resting on Karasuba’s shoulder. The pressure she exerted was enough to make the sidewalk crack, yet her voice remained serene. “Violence is unnecessary… for now. We shouldn't frighten the locals more than we already have.”
The stoic silver haired captain stiffened instinctively, his instincts screaming that the woman in the short black kimono was the most dangerous person in the square. “…You will all come with us for questioning. If you resist, we will use force.”
A tense silence fell over the square. The crowd leaned in, breathless. The guards tightened their grip on their weapons, their knuckles turning white.
Yuuka cracked her knuckles slightly. “So… are we doing this peacefully or—?”
Issei raised his hands quickly in a 'peace' gesture. “Whoa, whoa—let’s not start a fight five minutes after arriving.”
Karasuba hummed, her eyes narrowing with amusement. “A shame~ I was looking forward to seeing how strong they were.”
Ruby leaned closer to Sakura, whispering loudly enough for the nearest knights to hear. “Is this the part where we fight everyone?”
Sakura’s eyes sparkled. “Are we?!”
Issei groaned, feeling a headache forming. “No, we are NOT.” He looked back at the captain, forcing a friendly, boyish grin that he hoped looked disarming. “Alright, yeah, sure. We’ll cooperate. Lead the way, Captain. We’ve got nothing to hide.”
(For now,) Ddraig added mentally, his voice full of draconic mischief. (But if they try to touch your kid, We’er burning this city to the ground.)
Issei’s grin faltered for a microsecond. ‘Shut up, Ddraig. You’re not helping.’
This is just a short view. I might make it if I ever dicide to go there. Tell me what you think.
