So glad you are able to keep the positive vibes going after viewing what turns out to be a very dark episode…interesting side note: Originally Xander was supposed to die, but Joss had a change of heart, and decided to go with him being brutally injured instead.

Ron Fehr

In the truck, when Caleb was talking about his boys, he was referring to the bringers that were chasing Shannon.

But this episode was a fair warning to viewers moving forward, a reminder that we are entering the final episodes of the entire series and now all bets are off, where as before we knew our core group was safe, but now anyone could bite the big one, and that includes Xander, Willow, Giles, and yes…even our main protagonist, Buffy.

Ron Fehr

Yep, Rhona said Dominique. Bet you didn't know that you were actually a potential Slayer, eh?

Ron Fehr

Buffy closing the door on Giles was obviously not the end of their relationship. Think of it as just a little tiff. She's had arguments with Willow and Xander, and they're still friends. Relationships are not always smooth sailing.

Richard Ashton

I might have this wrong, as I can't find the quotes, but Spike is described as Buffy's best fighter and Willow the most powerful weapon (i.e. magic).

Pauline Robertson

Not only Robin getting in her head, Giles last episode: "It takes more than rousing speeches to lead, Buffy. If you're going to be a general, you need to be able to make difficult decisions regardless of cost. So, you really do understand the difficult decisions you'll have to make? That anyone of us is expendable in this war?" mmhhmm👀 Buffy said Spike is the strongest warrior/fighter we have ( imo she wasn't including herself in that?) and Willow is their most powerful weapon. Both are true. The last time Faith was in Buffy's house she knocked Joyce out, tied her up and used her as bait, then pretended to Joyce that she was Buffy and left. Yeah eesh.

StephanieB

Really? That's crazy if it's true. I can't imagine Buffy going into the final battle without her metaphorical heart.

StephanieB

And apparently Dawn remembers it all...

Pauline Robertson

Yeah and I can't imagine Willow coping and carrying on with loss of her childhood best friend. She'd be broken hearted again 💔 and after losing Tara 😔

AdventuressJamie

So many horrible things are happening in this episode but all I can concentrate on is Faith! So glad she is back 😍 Btw love your makeup in this video!

StephanieB

Yes, Domi, Spike “met” Faith in Buffy’s body in S4”s “Who Are You”. But Spike didn’t realize it wasn’t Buffy. In fact, there are many who believe that Faith’s flirtatious encounter with him in The Bronze was part of what ignited Spike’s crush on Buffy.

Ray D

Yeah, Domi, if you don’t remember that scene you should rewatch it. Although they do recap what was said in their conversation in this episode

Ray D

Spike is pretty powerful. He has killed 2 slayers before. No other vampire can claim that

StephanieB

As others said, Buffy has called Spike her best fighter (I believe in Lies My Parents Told Me). I think she was excluding herself from that short list but I do think she is fully aware that she is stronger and a better fighter than Spike. The Slayer is by nature a bit stronger and a better fighter than the vampires, that's part of the package. Buffy knows this. But I think her point is their group is very short on supernaturally strong fighters, and in that context, besides herself, Spike is the strongest fighter they have. Except now, you know, they have Faith -- so there's that. Willow is possibly the most powerful, as we saw at the end of S6. But of course she needs to be able to harness that power and use it for good and not become all dark and veiny Willow, or else her power could really backfire on us.

Richard Ashton

It’s as if she’s taking control of the situation by using the door to cut off Giles’ talking to her. A young person might consider trying to shout down Giles but this way is more mature way to put her ‘full stop’ at the end of the conversation.

Vicky N

Yeah she practically put words in Buffy’s mouth and of course misinterpret them for good measure.

Richard Ashton

It’s easy to get confused when lusting after Faith. I’m a Willow fanatic from day one, her being practically perfect in every way.

Ron Fehr

I guess when the monks altered everyone's memories to include Dawn, they must have somehow altered Faith's as well.

Ron Fehr

I don't know if you would remember when vehicles had lighters in them. Smokers could press the button in, and a short while later, it would pop back out with the end hot enough to light cigarettes. In Caleb's case, of course, he used the lighter to heat up his ring before branding Shannon.

Koz

Every episode feels important this close to the series finale, and it becauses an especially big deal when it's the return of Faith to Sunnydale.

Ron Fehr

One good thing that came out of the battle at the vineyard was that they realized how serious of a threat that Caleb was. Which, sadly, necessitated some of the potential Slayers dying.

Ron Fehr

I think that the First posing as Buffy, when talking to Caleb, was mostly a money-saving issue for production purposes. Since Sarah was already on the payroll, there was not really a need to use someone new.

Ron Fehr

You're right. Okay.

Spike was infatuated with Buffy from the very first time he laid eyes on her, go back and rewatch that scene in season two at the Bronze where Spike is watching her, check out how he’s looking at her, even James Marsters said in interviews that he did that scene a certain way on purpose, insinuating that he was mesmerized by her the moment he saw her, long before the writers actually decided to have him fall for her.

StephanieB

I agree, not to mention Dru calling him out on his infatuation in South America, after they fled Sunnydale at the end of S2 (as we saw in a flashback during S5's "Fool For Love"). I said "many believe".. not necessarily me ;) That said, I do feel his interest leveled up after "Who Are You". Maybe because he started to feel he had a chance.
